Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match 2

Super 4 match 2 of the Asia Cup 2025 had Pakistan take on India in Dubai on the 21st of September. Pakistan batted first and scored 171/5 with a spirited innings of 58 off 45 by Sahibzada Farhan. After a good start, they lost wicket after wicket in the middle overs. However, India's bowlers, spearheaded by Shivam Dube (2/33) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/31), exerted some pressure in the middle overs, slowing their acceleration. In reply, India chased down their target with six wickets in hand and seven balls to spare, behind Abhishek Sharma's blistering 74 off 39 balls and a solid opening partnership. Below are the main reasons for Pakistan defeat:

1. Failure to Capitalize on a Strong Start

Pakistan had a decent start at 91/1 but lost their way in the middle period of the innings. They slipped from 91/1 to 115/4 after losing three quick wickets between the 11th and 15th overs, leaving a lot of pressure on the lower order.

2. Lack of Significant Middle-Order Contributions

The middle order from Pakistan failed to support Sahibzada Farhan's fifty. Hussain Talat (10 off 11) and Mohammad Nawaz (21 off 19) were unable to deliver the impetus needed to get up to a bigger total.

3. India’s strong chase

India's openers gave an emphatic start and Abhishek Sharma was in control with 74 runs off 39 balls. The aggressive approach of top order stuck to the chase and left the bowlers in trouble and without answers.
