Trent Rockets Womens lost to Northern Superchargers Women

Match 8 of The Hundred Women’s 2025 saw Northern Superchargers Women beat Trent Rockets Women by eight wickets at Trent Bridge. The Rockets, despite a rapid 61 from just 32 balls by Ashleigh Gardner, could only manage 128/8. The Superchargers, spearheaded by Davina Perrin’s unchallenged 72, easily got the target in 79 balls and thus gained a comfortable victory. Here are the main reasons why the Trent Rockets Lost the match:

1. Over-Reliance on Ashleigh Gardner’s Knock

Gardner’s innings was the only major contribution in the Rockets’ total, as no other batter crossed 15 runs. This meant there were no meaningful partnerships to build pressure on the opposition. Without middle-order support, the Rockets ended with a total far below a competitive score.

2. Ineffective Bowling Against Aggressive Batting

The attacking intent of Perrin and Litchfield, who were hitting boundaries for easy, was something that the Rockets’ bowlers couldn’t limit. Loose deliveries in the powerplay and middle overs not only kept the required run rate in check for the Superchargers but also allowed them to be on the front foot. The visitors were able to outplay the home team effortlessly, as the opposition bowling lacked discipline.

3. Key Wickets Not Taken Early

Trent Rockets managed only two wickets in the entire chase, both coming when the match was already in Northern Superchargers’ control. Failing to remove in-form batters early meant the opposition faced little scoreboard pressure. This allowed the Superchargers to play freely and finish the game with 21 balls to spare.
