While the Pakistan national cricket team is struggling in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, and the former captain Babar Azam is in the firing line for his poor batting performances, former Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has taken a dig at Babar.

In the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Babar Azam has hardly seemed to bat comfortably. The right-handed batter's scores in this tournament are 15 off 18 balls (vs Netherlands), 46 off 32 balls (vs United States), 5 off 7 balls (vs India), and 25 off 24 balls (vs England). Coming to bat at no.4, Babar has struggled to even rotate the strike, as he has majorly failed to carry on the team. Moreover, due to his poor strike rate, the Pakistan team has always felt under pressure. 

Recently, in the Super Eights match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 against England, Babar Azam came to the crease when Pakistan were struggling at 27/2 in the fourth over. Later, the former Pakistan captain, who is also the leading T20I run-scorer, scored 25 off 24 balls before Jamie Overton bowled him.

How did Umar Akmal take a dig at Babar Azam?

On the Instagram story, Umar Akmal came with four screenshots, two of his innings against Australia during the Super 10s of the ICC World T20 2014, and two screenshots of Babar Azam's batting against England in the recent Super Eights fixture in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Babar's first screenshot was when Pakistan were batting at 32/2 in 4.4 overs, and his next screenshot showed his dismissal after scoring 25 runs off 24 balls. 

Above Babar's screenshots, Umar Akmal brought his screenshots during the Super 10s of the 2014 edition. The first one was when Pakistan were batting at 25/2, when he joined the crease, and the second one after his dismissal, where he scored 94 off 54 balls, and Pakistan scored 180/5 in 19.1 overs. Pakistan scored 191/5 in that match and won by 16 runs. 

Even without adding any words in that story, it simply targets Babar Azam, where Umar Akmal brought the example of how to play at no.4 batting when the team is in challeging situation.
