India reached the final of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after beating West Indies in the virtual quarter-final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They progressed to the semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against England and got the victory by a narrow margin of seven runs to reach the final against New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India posted a massive score of 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Their wicket-keeper opening batter, Sanju Samson, drilled 89 runs in 46 balls while Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan slammed their respective half-centuries at a strike rate of more than 200.

New Zealand, in reply, got bundled out for 159 runs as their opening batter, Tim Seifert, cracked 52 runs in 26 balls with the help of two boundaries and five sixes. Jasprit Bumrah picked up four wickets in his four-over spell at an economy rate of 3.80.
