Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav delivered a classic humorous response when a reporter brought up the “business end” of the Asia Cup 2025. The group stages of the tournament concluded following India’s win over Oman in Abu Dhabi, with the Super 4 stage and final yet to be played. This year’s Asia Cup features eight teams for the first time, increasing the total number of matches to 19. So far, 12 matches have been completed, with six scheduled for the Super 4 stage and a grand final to follow.

During the pre-match press conference ahead of India’s clash against Pakistan, Suryakumar was asked about the toss factor as the tournament reached its “business end.” "Arre dada, abhi to chalu hua hai yaar, business end kaise ho gaya? (The tournament just started, how is it business end already)," the Indian skipper replied (via Times of India). He also noted that the toss had not played a major role so far, with most surfaces remaining true, though there was some dew during the second innings of the match against Oman.

Suryakumar also credited the sports science team for ensuring proper hydration and recovery for the players, especially with only a day’s break before facing Pakistan. "The sports science team is going a good job regarding hydration, the recovery is very important. When you reach this level and become a professional, it does not become necessary to tell the players how to prepare for a game one or two days prior to it. We also play matches in the IPL at 3 or 4 PM, so it is a similar kind of preparation. I have not seen players here being affected by cramps as such so far," he added.

Managing Fitness and Match Conditions

Most of the matches in the Asia Cup 2025 have been evening games, with a starting time of 6:30 PM local time, apart from one day match, between UAE and Oman, which started at 4 PM. Suryakumar noted that due to professionalism and prior experience in tournaments like the IPL, players were able to maintain their bodies and minds throughout the competition for each match.
