Virat Kohli fails again for four four-ball duck in successive games.

India didn’t get a great start with the bat in the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval as they were returning into the series to gain victory and level the series. They also lost the toss and were put into bat first on a surface that had been under the covers for a long day and had gathered some moisture.

Virat Kohli was the focus for the encounter after the right-handed batter, who has an excellent record with the bat at this ground across formats, looked to open his account in this series. In the previous clash, his mistimed drive ended up in the hands of the backward point fielder as he returned for an eight-ball duck.

Kohli walked into the middle in Adelaide on the second ball of the seventh over. He shouldered the very first ball from Xavier Bartlett as the ball hit the gloves of the wicket-keeper. On the very next delivery, the right-arm acer kept it outside the off-stump, and Kohli didn’t have any intention of playing that.

On the third ball, the Delhi batter stayed low and tapped the ball into the off-side. It was a great defense from the batter who played the ball under his eyes. It was perhaps a great set-up from Bartlett, who went straight on the fourth delivery to Kohli, who missed it and was plumb leg before the stumps for a duck.

The veteran had a brief discussion with Rohit Sharma, who was unsure about taking the review for the Indian batter. Kohli got beaten on the inside edge, and looking at the line, it was nearly comfortable for the umpire to rule the batter out. Kohli, while going back, acknowledged the crowd by raising his gloves.

India had also lost Shubman Gill on the opening ball of the same over, while the right-handed batter’s mistimed drive ended into the hands of the mid-on fielder, Mitchell Marsh, who dived to his right to grab the catch. The tourists faced another tough start with the bat.
