A neck-to-neck match that entered into Day 5 with possibilities of lots more twists. But, in reality, it is raining. The Headingley, where India and England have been facing each other for the 2nd match of the series, was hit by a heavy spell of rain.

With this weather and wet surface and outfield, the game of cricket is not possible to hold. If it continues, then the match will end in a draw. It'll be helpful for England, because they are way behind the target score. Rather than the home team, India has a better edge to level the series after losing in the first match in Leeds. If England wants to win the match on Day 5 with 90 overs in hand, then they'll have to maintain a run rate of 5.95, almost 6.00, throughout the day, which seems far from difficult.

And on the other side, India needs 7 more wickets to take down the fortress of England. The host now needs 536 runs on the final day of the second test to win the contest and maintain their momentum. Before the end of Day 4, the home team lost three wickets in Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Joe Root. Like the first innings, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj struck early with the red ball.

Umpire and coach had a chat

Umpire Chris Gaffaney was already spotted having conversations with the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir about the conditions. The looming dark clouds over the stadium might not have made the Indian dressing room a happy place.

If the rain stops and Day 5 starts, Shubman Gill's India can push all out for a historic win in Birmingham. Without Gill's 161 runs against 162 balls, maintaining almost a hundred strike rate, India could not have gotten the 608-run lead. The captain's knock was well supported by KL Rahul's 55, Rishabh Pant's 65, and an unbeaten 69 from Ravindra Jadeja.
