Brevis brought up his fifty in spectacular fashion, launching Zimbabwe spinner Vincent Masekesa for a massive six over midwicket to bring up the milestone in the 19th over. His knock, which included three sixes and three fours, now stands as the third-fastest half-century on debut in Test history. Brevis also stitched together a crucial 95-run partnership with fellow debutant Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who played a more composed role at the other end. The 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter made history himself by becoming the youngest South African to score a century on Test debut, reaching the milestone in 112 balls.
