West Indies improved their semi-final chances with a big 107-run win over Zimbabwe in the 2026 T20 World Cup at Wankhede Stadium. West Indies scored 254/6 in 20 overs and then bowled Zimbabwe out for 147 in 17.4 overs. It was a strong all-round performance. One particular over in the middle of the innings completely shifted the momentum.

Gudakesh Motie was the standout performer with the ball. In the 11th over, he delivered a game-changing spell that broke Zimbabwe’s resistance. On 10.3, he dismissed captain Sikandar Raza with a clever delivery. Motie bowled it full and wide outside off stump, tempting Raza into a drive.

The ball gripped the surface and spun sharply, beating the bat and crashing into the off stump. Raza, who scored 27 off 20 balls with two fours and two sixes, was left disappointed as Zimbabwe lost a key wicket. On the very next ball (10.4), Motie struck again. Tashinga Musekiwa tried to defend but showed no foot movement, and the ball spun past the edge to hit the top of off stump, giving Motie two wickets in two balls.

Motie’s Spell Seals Record Victory

Motie’s back-to-back wickets triggered a collapse in the Zimbabwe batting line-up. He finished with impressive figures of 4/28, while Akeal Hosein also supported well with 3/28. The double strike in one over broke Zimbabwe’s momentum and ended any hopes of a comeback.

Earlier, West Indies had posted a massive 254/6 in 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer smashed 85 off 34 balls, and captain Rovman Powell added 59 off 35 deliveries. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 147 in 17.4 overs, despite fighting knocks from Brad Evans (43 off 21) and Dion Myers (28 off 15). The massive 107-run win keeps West Indies firmly in the race for the semi-finals.
