Brook Surpasses Virat Kohli

Harry Brook played a historic innings and passed many big records. This was the first T20 World Cup hundred scored against Pakistan. Earlier, the highest score against Pakistan in the tournament was 84 by Shakib Al Hasan in 2012.

Brook also went past the 82 not out score made by Virat Kohli in 2022 during a chase vs Pakistan. This innings made Brook one of the top players in World Cup chase history.

This was also the first time a captain scored a T20 World Cup hundred against Pakistan. The previous best captain score vs Pakistan was 84 runs by Jos Buttler in 2024.

Brook’s century became the fourth hundred of this T20 World Cup edition. He joined players like Alex Hales, Chris Gayle and Pathum Nissanka who also scored World Cup centuries during a chase.

The England captain also became the third English player to score a century in T20 World Cup history after Hales and Buttler.

The England national cricket team entered the tournament after a 3–0 series win against Sri Lanka. After the Super 8 victory, England kept their unbeaten record in Sri Lanka this year at 5–0.

Brook also batted at the number three position for the first time in his international career since his debut in 2022. The innings became one of the most memorable performances of the tournament.
