Australia’s hero from the last season of the Under-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa, Harry Dixon, finally got his chance to feature for the Melbourne Renegades in the ongoing 2025/26 season of the Big Bash League (BBL) against the Perth Scorchers at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. But it did not turn out to be a sweet memory for the left-handed batter.

On the last delivery of the seventh over, Mahli Beardman went for a short delivery at the Southpaw, Harry Dixon, who went back on the back foot to pull his delivery and missed to get a connection to it. The rapid delivery hit near the neck of the batter as he was immediately checked by the physio, with concerned faces shown from the Scorchers players who also checked on the batter.

A break in play was taken before replays showed that Harry Dixon was hit on the neck, which was a very sensitive area, and later, he walked off after the physio came out. He did not look comfortable after that incident, as the ghost thing was that he could actually walk on his own.

Earlier in the game, Perth Scorchers put a massive score of 219 in their allotted 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets as their opening batter, Finn Allen, celebrated a fine knock of 101 runs in 53 deliveries, thanks to his five boundaries and eight sixes at a strike rate of nearly 200.

However, apart from him, there was not much support from the rest of the batting order, with the second-best score being 22 from Aaron Hardie while Laurie Evans nailed 21 runs in 11 deliveries. Melbourne, who were one defeat away from getting officially eliminated from the tournament, made their way to 134 for the loss of five wickets in 15 overs.

Tim Seofert was the lone fighter with unbeaten 65 runs in 41 deliveries, while Jack Fraser McGurk also clubbed a decent knock of 42 runs in just 18 deliveries, thanks to his five massive sixes and two boundaries.

Brief Scores: Melbourne Renegadesh 147/7 (Tim Seifert 66, Cooper Connolly 2/23) vs Perth Scorechers 219/7 (Finn Allen 101, Sam Elliot 4/28)
