Cricket is often called the gentleman’s game for the way it’s played with pure sportsmanship, which makes it so likable for the fans. It’s the perfect package of intense battle between bat and ball like the Ashes or the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. However, the game isn’t just limited to aggression, passion, and determination, as the fans have witnessed several funny moments. 

A video has gone viral recently when it was seen that a batter defended the ball into the point region as the fielder fielded the ball and smashed it into the gloves of the wicket-keeper. The keeper wasn’t able to take the ball cleanly. But in doing so, it hit the gloves and came out of the gloves.

The batter, meanwhile, was trying to take a single and came out of his crease. The ball, however, rolled onto the stumps to find the batter out of the crease. As the rule suggested, it was dismissed given that the keeper gloved it in the middle path. It was a hilarious moment as the batter couldn’t believe his luck, while the fielding side started to celebrate.

There are so many such hilarious run-outs that have taken place in international cricket. In 2018, Pakistan’s former captain, Azahar Ali, middled the ball into the third man region for a boundary. He thought that the ball had already rolled onto the rope as he started to engage with his partner in the middle of the pitch. Meanwhile, Starc threw the ball to the keeper to run the batter out.

There was another incident from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) when the pace bowling all-rounder, Andre Russell, hit a ball into the off-side and called for two. As he was running back to the crease, the field smashed the ball into the stumps, which flashed back to the striker’s end to find Russell short of the crease.

Another hilarious run-out was when Alastair Cook jumped into the crease. As his feet were in the air, the ball hit the stumps, and the umpires ruled the batter out of the crease for run-out.
