The former wicket-keeper World Cup-winning captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni, has revealed what would be irritating for him in the field, as the video went viral on social media platforms. He felt that when the players don’t follow the motion of the game and look to follow the controllable things, then it would always become tough.

During an event in Mumbai on Mahi Unplugged, MS Dhoni shed light on how he would never like the fielders not being attentive in the game when they would be bowling, especially if they remain an over short at that point of time.

“No, I do get angry, which is quite normal for a human being. Anger is also an emotion. Since we are talking about cricket, I feel that when controllable things don’t happen on the ground, that irritates me a lot. I don’t get angry, and I get irritated. So, for instance, the match is going on this side, and one of the fielders in deep mid-wicket decides to look at the crowd. And we are already one over short.” Dhoni expressed in that viral video.

MS Dhoni reveals how he gets angry on cricket field

Dhoni, who retired from the game across three formats more than five years ago, only features in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and he has also stated his practice in Ranchi ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

“So, controllable things, which are possible in the ground, and that don’t happen in the ground, then it becomes quite irritating to me,” Dhoni told Jatin Sapru, who reckoned that often the fielders need to be careful with the glovework of Dhoni, who shows the fielders their position and the changes they need to make in the field.

“Commentary is very difficult. I feel there is a very fine line between describing the game and, in that process, getting into a zone where you start criticizing individuals who are playing the game. It’s a very thin line. Often, you don’t even feel that what you are doing may be borderline wrong.” Dhoni added.
