Indian journalists harassed by locals outside Lord's.

On July 12, 2025, just before the start of the third day’s play of the third Test match between England and India at Lord’s two Indian journalists, Subhayan Chakraborty and Rohit Juglan, working for Revsportz, faced harassment while covering a live broadcast outside the cricket ground, as they were making their way into the field.

The incident happened during a live-stream Hindi show before Lord's, around 20 minutes into the broadcast, when an intoxicated and unknown person began to follow them and later started to use abusive and racist language. He also attempted to disrupt their work. The journalists were uncomfortable in that scenario.

Both Rohit and Subhayan tried to avoid the individual, who continued to use vulgar words, besides making racially charged remarks. During the incident, Chakraborty asked Juglan to call the police. The latter did the same as they reported the person to the authorities, but he later reappeared in the background of the English live stream. That raised the question of the town’s condition of security.

The incident has sparked outrage on various social media platforms, where many have raised their concerns about the racism in England. It has also raised questions on the broader aspect of the safety of the reporters working in public spaces, and also the requirement to take strong actions on the racial abuses. No further details have been known as of now, as the legal action has been reported.

The third morning of the Lord’s Test belonged to the touring Indian side, apart from the run-out dismissal of Rishabh Pant on the stroke of the lunch break. The southpaw smashed 74 runs in 112 balls, thanks to eight boundaries and a couple of sixes.

KL Rahul, who got a half-century overnight, remained unbeaten on 98 runs. He smashed a few fine shots around the ground, as the home players looked to be feeling the heat under pressure. India finished in a good position as they may now look to get near the first innings score of the England side. It won’t be an easy fourth-innings chase for the Blue Brigade.
