It was the final delivery of the 12th over of the innings from the third encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai between India and United States of America (USA) when Ishan Kishan got a funny run-out to dismiss the USA batter, Milind Kumar, who had no idea of the ball from Varun Chakravarthy. 

The right-handed batter was beaten by the googly on his inside edge as the ball went past his bat to the wicket-keeper, Ishan Kishan, who fumbled to collect the delivery at the start before seeing Milind trying to snatch a run, which eventually saw the keeper breaking the stumps and dismissing the batter for 34 runs in as many balls.

The USA didn’t get a great start with the bat as they lost their first three wickets for just 13 runs on the board in 3.2 overs. Andries Goes smashed a fine six down the ground against Mohammad Siraj, who had the last laugh against the right-handed batter.

The USA captain, Monark Patel, who missed the previous WC clash against India due to an injured hand while celebrating the victory against Pakistan, returned for a two-ball duck as the ball ballooned in the air while he looked to go into the leg side of the delivery.

Saiteja Mukkamlla got dismissed for two runs in seven balls as he miscued the flick shot against Siraj before Varun grabbed a simple catch. The wicket of Milind Kumar broke the 58-run fourth-wicket stand of the USA side. It was still a fine bowling performance from the blue brigade, who held their nerve with the ball and didn’t release the pressure in the field.

India posted 161 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav smashed an unbeaten knock of 84 runs in 49 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 171.43, while the second-best score of the card came from Tilak Varma (25).
