ICC Women's World Cup 2025

The countdown has begun for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 kicks off in India and Sri Lanka. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has stepped up to show his support for the Indian women's team.

Akshay has always been a sports enthusiast, urged fans the entire nation to support the women's team with the same enthusiasm and respect that is afforded to the men's team. He emphasized true cricket fan support every Indian player, regardless of gender.

Akshay recalled that he traveled all the way from Scotland to watch the final of the 2017 Women's World Cup and remarked on the impression it left. "I still remember the 2017 World Cup final. I took a train from Scotland and went to the stadium to watch the final. That's when I saw the passion of our women's cricket team. Why did I go? Because that's when I understood that there's no gender in cricket. There's only one jersey, one passion, and one team. Team India,” he said in a video shared by JioStar.

Advocating Equal Support for Women’s Cricket

In the video, Akshay held up vice-captain Smriti Mandhana’s No. 18 jersey and explained that whether it’s Virat Kohli wearing the number or Smriti Mandhana, the jersey represents the same thing: India. “We usually cheer for the men's team. But the real support will come when we cheer for our women's team as much as we cheer for the men's team. The real fan is the one who stands with every player, whether it's a man or a woman. This is the sign of the real blue. 'Jersey Wahi, Jazba wahi!'” he added.
