South Africa are playing against the West Indies in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Proteas decided to bowl first after winning the toss. They started really well, as Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets in one over.

He dismissed captain Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer in the second over of the match, dismantling West Indies' batting lineup. Hope was playing on 16 off six balls, including one boundary and two sixes. Rabada claimed the wicket and helped South Africa get a brilliant start.

As we write, the West Indies' batting lineup has collapsed, scoring 136 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Currently, Romario Shepherd is playing on 40 runs along with Jason Holder.

What are West Indies and South Africa's qualifications scenarios?

The West Indies have won their first match against Zimbabwe by a huge margin, which helped them gain +5.35 NRR. Now, their qualification route is quite simple. They'll have to win their next two matches and then qualify for the semi-finals. However, if they lose any game, they might not make it to the knockouts.

For instance, if they lose against SA today and win against India in the next match, then the tie-breaker will be the NRR if India win their match against Zimbabwe. Hence, to avoid this, both South Africa and West Indies will look to win the match.
