India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav opened up on his plans at the BCCI Naman Awards on March 15 in Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) conducted their annual award function to felicitate the players who have made the country proud. Earlier in March 2025, the men's team won the Champions Trophy, followed by the Asia Cup. 

After that, in October, the Indian women's team lifted the ODI World Cup for the first time, scripting history. This victory was followed by the men's team defending their T20 World Cup title in India in March 2026. Overall, the year has produced some talented performances, followed by winning trophies. While speaking at the BCCI Naman awards, Suryakumar revealed that he wants to 'win more trophies.'

"It's a great thing that cricket is happening. There are two events in that year, there is a T20 World Cup as well, there are the Olympics as well. So why not? We have done two in a row. Why not three in a row?" said Suryakumar Yadav. 

"I think we just needed that one spark or one which we actually crossed in 2024 and post that 2025 Champions Trophy, then the women's team winning the ODI World Cup. I think that one step was important, that taste was important for everyone to understand what it takes to win an ICC Trophy. Now, there's no looking back. If this wonderful run has started, let's collect as many trophies as possible," he added.

India's upcoming white-ball series after IPL 2026

The Indian men's team will start playing white-ball series after the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in May. They will start with an ODI series along with a one-off Test match against Afghanistan, followed by many other series. The 2027 ODI World Cup is coming soon, and hence, the preparations will start as well. Meanwhile, many overseas boards have requested BCCI to hold matches as per reports. 

The Men in Blue will also have to prepare for the WTC finals 2027 in the upcoming year, since they are already behind. Australia are currently leading the table and are likely to qualify for the finals.
