Gautam Gambhir reveals secret

Following India’s record-breaking T20 World Cup 2026 victory, their head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has highlighted the intention of building a super team instead of superstars in the game. The blue brigade’s head coach has spoken following the side’s win over the New Zealand side in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gautam Gambhir reckoned that while the media would try to create the superstars, his job is to create a super team. He also reckoned that he wouldn’t care about the social media and broadcasting numbers and the fan following, but would focus on what the players would bring to the team and the country.

“That is a simple difference, and that difference will always remain. The media wants to create superstars, but my job as a head coach is to create a super team. And that is the only way I look at my profession because my job is to be absolutely fair, even, and treat everyone exactly equally. After all, those 15 people in that dressing room are absolutely equal to me.” Gambhir expressed in the recent interaction.

Since the arrival of the head coach for Gambhir, there has been a significant change in approach from the culture of the older days. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from the Indian side in the shortest format after the last World Cup 2026, as the team has put focus on the young players.

“I do not look at the number of runs they have got. I do not look at the amount of social media following they have. I do not look at what TRP they bring to the people or to the broadcaster. I only look at what they bring to the team and what they bring to the country. And that is why I feel that my job is to create a super team. And hopefully, till I finish my tenure, I will be able to create a super team.” Gambhir stated.

Post this victory, Indian players, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, will shift their focus to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, after which they will play the series against England away from home in June.
