It was hard to tell, looking at the support the Nepal side got against England during their opening encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, whether it was their home game or not. They nearly completed the chase, but surely put the opposition under pressure in the second innings before falling short of gaining the momentum at the last moment.

The Nepal Women’s Team also supported their boys as the video went viral on the social media platforms, where their women’s team was seen to be cheering for the boys and dancing when Sandeep Lamichhane picked up the wicket of Tom Banton, who was trapped leg before the stumps in the afternoon.

In the first innings, England posted a strong score of 184 runs for the lose of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs as their number three batter, Jacob Bethell, smashed a fine knock of 55 runs in 35 balls with the help of four boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 157.14 while their captain, Harry Brook, clubbed 53 runs in 32 balls at a strike rate of 165.62.

Nepal, replay, started well inside the powerplay before Dipendra Singh Airee contributed smartly and handsomely with a crazy 29-ball knock of 44 runs, shouldering on six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 151.72, while their opener, Kushal Bhurtel, got 29 runs in 17 balls at a strike rate of 170.59.

Lokesh Bam had already cleaned the chase but lost the fight against Sam Curran, who held his nerve in the last over and ended with figures of 1/27 in four overs. Bam got 39 runs in 20 balls, with the help of four fours and two sixes.

Brief Scores: England 184/7 (Jacob Bethell 55, Harry Brook 53, Dipendra Airee 2/23) beat Nepal 180/6 (Dipendra Singh 44, Liam Dawson 2/21) by four runs.
