India lifted their maiden title of the Women’s World Cup 2025 by beating South Africa at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur and head coach Amol Mazumdar. But a video has gone viral on social media platforms where a Pakistan fan cheered for the Blue Brigade and sang the Indian national anthem.

Pakistan’s women’s side had already made their exit from the tournament even before the semifinal. But the fan threw their support behind the women in blue, a gesture that was beautifully captured and showed how united the fans were for the game beyond the political rivalries.

The viral video has shown how the fans in Pakistan’s jersey have stood on their feet before their television screen when the famous Bollywood singer, Sunidhi Chauhan, was heard to sing India’s National anthem. In the final of the World Cup, India batted first to post 298 runs in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to 87 by Shafali Verma in 78 balls, while Deepti Sharma clubbed 58 runs at a strike rate of 100, shouldering on three boundaries and one six.

In reply, the Proteas couldn’t convert their battersstarts into big scores. Captain Laura Wolvaardt smashed a fine knock of 101 runs in 98 balls but lacked support from the other end to get bundled out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. A little support from the other end could have changed the story far more.

Later, the BCCI rewarded the women’s cricket team of India with a prize money of INR 51 crore for their players, coaches, and support staff. They will also get nearly INR 39 crore from the ICC as the prize money for winning the World Cup.
