Indian team’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from Test cricket on May 12. His decision to retire from Test cricket has shocked his fans. On social media, fans are expressing their disappointment and blaming him for taking this decision. Amid this situation, famous Indian journalist Palki Sharma trolled Pakistan in light of the ongoing border tensions, using Virat Kohli's Test retirement as a reference.

After a few days of fighting between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the two countries had reached a ceasefire agreement. Earlier that day, both countries had attacked each other's military bases.

The tension between the two neighbours began on April 22, when Terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, killing 26 people. In response, India launched "Operation Sindoor" and carried out drone and missile strikes on Pakistan.

While giving a briefing about the situation at the border, Palki said:

"Move over, Wonderland, there is a new fairytale in town. General Munir is living in Delulu land. His air defence is as strong as the Pakistan cricket team's top order. His fighter jets are as lethal as their captain's post-match press conferences. Yet, there are celebrations in the country. What happened is no victory for Pakistan. Their only good news was that Virat Kohli retired. That’s one less hundred for them to suffer." Her statement sparked controversy shortly after.

Notably, Kohli's Test career has been in the news since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, held from November to January. In that series, he scored 190 runs in 9 innings, with an average of 23.75 across five Tests.

Out of the eight times he was dismissed in the series, seven were caught behind the stumps while playing balls outside the off-stump. However, even though the Australia tour did not go well, many people did not expect Kohli to retire so soon.

Kohli made his Test debut against the West Indies in June 2011. In the last 14 years, he has played 123 Test matches and scored 9,230 runs, including 30 centuries.
