Prasidh Krishna's toe-crashing yorker dismisses centurion Quinton de Kock.

After South Africa lost their left-handed opening batter, Ryaan Ricketon, on the fifth ball of the innings during the third ODI of the three-match series at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma recovered them with a record second-wicket partnership of 113 runs.

South Africa, since losing Bavuma to Ravindra Jadeja, lost their way in the middle as Prasidh Krishna, having been smashed for 27 runs in his first two overs without success, picked up two wickets in between four deliveries. From 168/2, they were restricted to 199/5.

The fifth wicket was the massive one of Quinto de Kock. The southpaw has already celebrated his 23rd century in the ODI format and equaled the record of Sanath Jayasuriya to smash the most centuries in the 50-over format against the Indian side. But he missed a toe-crashing yorker from Krishna to see his stumps being rattled on 106 runs in 89 balls at a strike rate of 119.10 with the help of eight boundaries and six sixes.

Before the dismissal, De Kock smashed a full delivery into the leg side to the hands of the fielder before experiencing the same fate on another delivery. But he didn’t get the chance to get runs off those good shots. Moreover, he was tired after battling in the scorching heat, which saw him playing a lazy shot to the ball he could have played more with a straight bat.

De Kock has now overtaken AB de Villiers (1038) to be South Africa’s leading ODI run-getter in India with the help of 1085 runs. This shows how much he loves to bat in this condition. On the other hand, Krishna was fantastic in his change of pace and lengths in the middle overs of the innings.

South Africa lost a few quick wickets to see the momentum drifting away from their hands. They reached 224/5 by the end of 36 overs as Dewald Brevis was their key, who had already smacked 24 runs in 21 balls and looked good in the middle.
