Rare Scene in Ranji Trophy 2025/26 final

Bizarre and shocking incidents are quite common in cricket, and one such incident took place during the final of the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 between Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, as the fans, players, and even the umpire were shocked to see the situation.

It was the first delivery of the 11th over of the innings when Qamran Iqbal faced Vidyadhar Patil. The entire Karnataka side went for a massive appeal as the umpire turned down the caught behind. There was a woody sound which seemed like the ball had brushed the stumps after the bails didn’t come off the stumps.

It was in the corridor of uncertainty as the ball straightened up after landing. Iqbal got squared up in his stance and got beaten on the outside edge. The ball brushed the side of the top of the off-stump, but the bails didn’t come off. Some of the Karnataka players even came to the near of the stumps and had a look at the sticks.

Karnataka got bundled out for only 293 in reply, as their opener, Mayank Agarwal, played a sensational knock of 160 runs, thanks to 21 boundaries. But that was the only contribution in the entire line-up, which wasn’t positive news. Auqib Nabi celebrated his five-wicket haul for 54 runs in 23 overs.

On the other hand, J&K batted second and lost three wickets for 77 runs. But their lead has already crossed the 350-run mark, which will be a next-to-impossible chase for the opposition if they get the chance on the fourth day. Anyway, J&K are ahead with the first-innings lead.

Brief Scores: J&K 584 (Shubham Pundir 121, Yawer Hassan 88, Prasidh Krishna 5/98) & 85/3 (Qamran Iqbal 40*, Prasidh Krishna 2/30) lead Karnataka 293 (Mayank Agarwal 160, Auqib Nabi 5/54) by 375 runs.
