Team India batter Shreyas Iyer was seen getting angry at security personnel who forcefully clicked pictures with him. In a video shared on social media, the right-handed batter expressed clear displeasure and reminded the security person that his job was to help him walk freely, not stop him for photos. The incident quickly gained attention and sparked reactions online.

Iyer has not played for India since the third ODI against Australia last month at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). During that match, he suffered a rib injury while taking an outstanding catch to dismiss Alex Carey. Although the catch was brilliant, the Mumbai-born cricketer hurt his rib and walked off the field immediately. A later update revealed that he had suffered internal bleeding, which was controlled after a minor procedure, and his recovery has been progressing well.

Meanwhile, the video of the Indian middle-order batter showing frustration with the security person continues to go viral. Reports also suggest that the prolific right-hander is unlikely to be fully fit for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, starting November 30.

Iyer Retained by PBKS and Coming Off a Strong IPL Season

Shreyas Iyer is one of 21 players retained by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2026 auction to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The franchise, led by the Mumbai-born star, was the runner up in IPL 2025 after a heartbreaking defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Iyer had a great season with the bat despite the defeat.

He ended IPL 2025 as PBKS’ highest run-scorer, smashing 604 runs in 17 matches at an average of 50.33, alongside a superb strike rate of 175.07. However, he managed only one run in the final, where PBKS failed to chase down 191. Even so, his form throughout the season was a big positive for the team, and PBKS will hope he returns fully fit ahead of IPL 2026.
