While Scotland had strong momentum and were building a big total, Nepal cricketer Sompal Kami put his team back in the Group C game of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 on Tuesday night (February 17).

Nepal chose to field first after winning the toss at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Scotland openers George Munsey and Michael Jones had an 80-run partnership for the first wicket. After Munsey was out for 27 runs, Jones had another strong 52-run partnership with Brandon McMullen for the second wicket.

Before the beginning of the 16th over, Scotland lost only one wicket with 130+ runs, as they were targeting a big total. However, Sompal Kami changed the situation of the game by picking up two wickets in the 16th over.

At first, Sompal bowled Jones for 71 runs off 45 balls (eight fours and three sixes). Just two balls later, Sompal dismissed McMullen, who scored 25 off 19 balls (one four and one six). McMullen's dismissal was a slow fuller delivery, which the Scottish batter played straight shot, and the bowler Sompal brilliantly caught that ball to make a stunning caught and bowled dismissal.

In his next over, in the 19th over, Sompal took another wicket, and finished the innings with the bowling figures of 4-0-25-3, as Scotland were restricted to 170/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Nepal chased down the target in 19.2 overs, where Dipendra Singh Airee won the Player of the Match award for his 50 not out off 23 balls.
