The visitors, batting first, posted a decent score of 211 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. The southpaw notched up a fine knock of 60 runs in 74 balls at a strike rate of 81.08, with the help of six boundaries, while Andre Russell contributed 22 runs along with Danza Hyatt’s 31 vital runs in 54 balls, thanks to two boundaries and one six. Both Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron grabbed two wickets each.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, no one stood out from India’s batting line-up in the chase. They lost their top four batters inside the first 10 overs of the innings for just 51 runs before the Nagpur-born smashed a fine knock of 72 runs in 99 balls, thanks to his three boundaries and one six, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed 38 runs in 62 balls, shouldering on three fours.

India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. After Rohit’s dismissal, there was a pin-drop silence in the home dressing room as the shoulders dropped. But Aaron and Umesh Yadav had other plans. The former cut Darren Sammy for a boundary through point to get the crowd back in their voice.

With three runs required from eight balls, Umesh played a fantastic on-drive for a boundary to complete the successful chase by one run with seven balls to spare.
