Coming into the T20 World Cup 2026 clash between India and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the talk of the town was how India would tackle the right-arm spinner of the Pakistan side, Usman Tariq, who has a mysterious and deceptive action that can fox any batter with his pause while he delivers the ball out of his hand.

SuryaKkumar Yadav, the Indian captain, was asked how they would tackle the bowler in game two with right-handed better claim that they had their own practice against this sort of bowlers, having played other unconventional bowlers with actions in the past. However, it did not go his way as he was dismissed by the spinner, Usman Tariqin the penultimate over of the first innings.

After being smashed for a boundary on the second ball of the 19th over, Usman Tariq dismissed Suryakumar Yadav for 32 runs in 23 deliveries. The right-hand batter moved across to slog the full lane delivery over the mid-wicket region as he mistimed the shot, and the big boundaries at the ground ensured that it would not go all the way.

Sai Ayub seemed to have misjudged the ball a little bit, but he settled himself under it and grabbed the ball quite comfortably to complete the catch. Tariq finished a special bowling performance of one for 24 in his 4 over spell. Pakistan bowled 18 overs of spin in this clash, which is the joint-most by a Full Member side in a T20I innings.
