Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes Jayden Seales for three successive boundaries.

India showed its dominance in the opening Test of the two-match series against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with an innings and 140-run victory. They looked to show the same strength during the second clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, which was a proper batting-friendly surface, as the ball started to come onto the bat easily.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who got dismissed for 36 runs even after getting a start in the previous game, made a watchful start against the new ball bowling of Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip. From the other end, KL Rahul started to take the aggressive route while Jaiswal was leaving the ball well, which pushed the opponents to bowl at his strength by the end of the first hour.

However, after the break, it was a different Jaiswal who started the second session with a boundary. The southpaw went back to slap the right-arm pacer between gully and backward point for a boundary before slashing hard on the very next delivery through the third man fence.

A ball later, he nailed Seales for another boundary through the covers to celebrate his 13th half-century in the longest format. Those boundaries were not welcomed well for the pacer, who threw the ball back at Jaiswal before apologizing. India started to get the runs at a run rate of over five during the second session, which showed another character of the surface.

Earlier in the day, Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first without any hesitation on the dry surface. Rahul looked good for his 30+ scores before having a brain fade to use his feet and getting beaten by the spin of the delivery as the wicket-keeper batter dislodged the bails to find the right-handed batter out of the crease.

Sai Sudharsan, who had been under pressure to put a big score in this Test, has also started well for his 38 balls in 70 balls by the end of the first hour of the second session as India marched their way to 150/1.
