England Champions vs South Africa Champions

South Africa Champions delivered an all-round clinical performance to destroy England Champions by 10 wickets in Match 8 of the World Champions League 2025 at Grace Road, Leicester. Having decided to bowl first, the South Africans were tight with the ball and chased the target comfortably, courtesy of a dazzling knock by their skipper, AB de Villiers.

England Champions Innings

England Champions managed 152/6 in their 20 overs after being put in to bat. Phil Mustard was the top scorer with 39 off 33 balls, while Samit Patel (24 off 16) and Eoin Morgan (20 off 14) made brief but useful contributions. Despite the starts, no one could push on for a big score, as South Africa’s bowlers maintained control. Imran Tahir spun his way to 2/17 from four miserly overs, supported by Wayne Parnell (2/36) and Chris Morris (1/32). The total looked competitive but not imposing.

South Africa Champions Innings

Chasing 153, the South Africa Champions made a mockery of the target, romping home in just 12.2 overs without losing a wicket. AB de Villiers was in sensational form, smashing 116* off 51 balls with 15 fours and 7 sixes. Hashim Amla anchored the other end, scoring an unbeaten 29 off 25. The pair added a record 153-run unbeaten partnership and never allowed the English bowlers any breathing room. England’s attack looked clueless as South Africa sealed a dominant victory.

The emphatic victory earned South Africa their third consecutive win, remaining unbeaten and at the number one position of the WCL 2025 points table with six points. England, however, remains struggling with a single point from four matches, occupying the fifth position in the table.
