The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, has disclosed his special bond with the former national all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, during the special charity event hosted by the Punjab-born in London on July 8. Kohli was present at the dinner program with so many other notable cricketers like Kevin Pietersen, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and the touring Indian Test side.

Kohli spoke about his close relationship with India's star all-rounder from the early days of his career. Both played the 50-over World Cup 2011 at home, which the Blue Brigade went on to win for the second time to end the 28-year drought. On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh returned to the ODI side under Kohli during the home series against England and later on in the Champions Trophy 2017, where they ended up as the runners-up.

“We shared very good bond - when I started playing for India, him, Bhajju Pa & Zaheer took me under their wings, really helped me grow as a player - Watching him in the World Cup was special, what we got to know after that was a shock - being so close, we had no idea, then his battle with cancer & again the Champion that he is, coming on top & making a comeback to the team when I was leading the team.” Virat Kohli expressed as quoted by the Times of India.

The Delhi-born also touched on the game in Cuttack during the 2017 home series against the Eoin Morgan-led side. Just before the start of the three-match series, MS Dhoni handed over the leadership duties to the star batter, planning for the upcoming 2019 World Cup on the horizon. Kohli looked back at the special game where Yuvraj and Dhoni got a fabulous partnership to bail them out of trouble.

“I remember, we played a game against England in Cuttack, top order got out early then Yuvi pa got 150 I think & MS got 110 or something and I was telling KL that this is like childhood days watching on big tv - I have lots of love & respect for him.” The former Indian Test batter said in the same interaction.

Yuvraj finished his ODI career with 8701 runs and 111 wickets in 304 games with 14 centuries and the best of 5/31. Kohli, meanwhile, is the second leading ODI run-getter with 14181 runs in 290 innings.
