While the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is on the opening day, the defending champions and the hosts India are still battling with some key injury issues. Now, there is big news for the Indian team ahead of the India vs USA match in Group A of the tournament, as Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable for their tournament opener. Jasprit Bumrah unavailable for IND vs USA match in Group A of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is hosting India's first match of the tournament, where India are facing the USA. After the USA won the toss, they chose to field first. During the toss, in the team announcement, the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that the right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is unfortunately missing the game due to not feeling well.  

Experienced Mohammed Siraj, who just joined the Indian team as a replacement for injured Harshit Rana, is in the Indian playing XI for their tournament opener.

BCCI update on Jasprit Bumrah

Soon, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) also brought the update by mentioning that Bumrah was unavailable for selection for the match due to illness. The BCCI further added that the medical team is closely monitoring the pacer's condition.
