West Indies Women will take on Sri Lanka Women in the second ODI at the National Cricket Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada, on Sunday, February 22. After a close finish in the first match, the home side will try to level the series, while Sri Lanka will aim to extend their lead.

The opening ODI was a competitive game. Sr
i Lanka set the target after batting first by scoring 240/6 in 50 overs. Hasini Perera and Harshita Samarawickrama were steady and ended up with half-centuries to take their side to a competitive total. In response, West Indies struggled early and were reduced to 80/5 inside 23 overs.

However, Stafanie Taylor and Jannillea Glasgow then rebuilt the innings with an important 89-run partnership. Taylor scored 66 before getting run out, and soon after, Glasgow also departed. Aaliyah Alleyne tried to finish the chase, but West Indies were bowled out for 230 with just two balls remaining. Sri Lanka held their nerve to seal a narrow victory.

WI-W vs SL-W: Pitch Report

Spinners are likely to play an important role again, especially during the middle overs. Batters may need to spend some time at the crease before trying big shots. The captain who wins the toss could choose to bowl first. However, chasing may not be easy, as the pitch might slow down as the game progresses.
