New Zealand Women set up a 129-run target for the 2016 champions West Indies Women at Sharjah in the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

After New Zealand Women chose to bat first, they scored 128/9 in 20 overs.

Good opening partnership

New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer set up a good start as they scored 32/0 at the end of the powerplay. They put up a 48-run partnership for the first wicket before Karishma Ramharack bowled Bates for 26 runs.

In the 12th over, Deandra Dottin dismissed Amelia Kerr (7). In the next over, Plimmer was stumped out for 33 runs off 31 balls with three fours and one six.

Isabella Gaze had a cameo after losing quick wickets

Captain Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday were battling with a quick 27-run partnership for the fourth wicket. But then the White Ferns lost four quick wickets for only eight runs. After Dottin bowled Halliday (18), Devine (12) lost her wicket against Afy Fletcher.

In the 17th over, Dottin dismissed Maddy Green (3) and Rosemary Mair (2).

In the final overs, Isabella Gaze fought hard and scored 20 not out off 14 balls with the help of two fours. Her batting played a crucial role for the White Ferns to cross the 120 runs mark.

Deandra Dottin created new Women's T20 World Cup history

Deandra Dottin ended with the bowling figures of 4-0-22-4. She became the first bowler to record more than two four or more wicket hauls in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history as it was the third time when Dottin recorded four or more wicket hauls in the tournament history.

Also, Afy Fletcher got two wickets as she had the bowling figures of 3-0-23-2. Karishma Ramharack (1/11) and Aaliyah Alleyne (1/31) both picked up one wicket each in that innings.
