Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield had strong partnership

In the 10th match of the WPL 2026, UP Warriorz Women beat the defending champions Mumbai Indians Women by 22 runs on Saturday evening (January 17).

After Mumbai Indians chose to field first, UP Warriorz Women scored 187/8 in 20 overs. In reply, the two-time champions were restricted to 165/6 in 20 overs.

Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield had strong partnership

After the opener Kiran Navgire was dismissed for a golden duck on the fourth ball of the match, captain Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield had a solid partnership of 119 runs for the second wicket. While the opener Lanning scored 70 off 45 balls with 11 fours and two sixes, Litchfield scored 67 off 37 balls with seven fours and three sixes. 

Haleen Deol (25) and Chloe Tryon (21) then added a valuable 41-run partnership for the fourth wicket, as both scored crucial 20s.  

Among the Mumbai Indians bowlers, Amelia Kerr (3/28) got three wickets and Nat Sciver-Brunt (2/22) picked up two wickets.

Mumbai Indians Women lost their early wickets at regular intervals

In reply, MI were losing wickets at regular intervals, as none of the first five batters reached the 20-run mark. When MI were struggling at 69/5, Amelia Kerr and Amanjot Kaur then rescued with an 83-run partnership for the sixth wicket. While Kaur was out for 41 off 24 balls with four fours and three sixes, Kerr scored 49 not out off 28 balls with six fours and one six, but their fighting wasn't enough for the team. 

Five out of six UP Warriorz bowlers managed to take one wicket at least, while Shikha Pandey managed to claim two wickets with the bowling figures of 4-0-30-2. 

After losing their first three games of the season, UP Warriorz won the last two fixtures, as they have four points after five games. Mumbai Indians Women also have four points after five matches, with two wins and three losses.
