1. Chris Gayle (West Indies)- 791 Runs

West Indies renowned batsman Chris Gayle scored the most runs in history in the Champions Trophy. It is no surprise that Chris Gayle is one of those few campaigners who has displayed their sporting calibre with the potential of hitting powerful shots and creating records with the willow.

He has scored 791 runs in 17 matches, with an excellent average of 52.73, and his top score is 133 not out. He has three hundreds and one half-century in this ICC event. He scored 474 runs in the 2006 Champions Trophy and was the highest run-getter that season. He had centuries against South Africa and Bangladesh in Jaipur in that edition. 


2. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka)- 742 Runs

Mahela Jayawardene, a former Sri Lanka cricketer, is ranked second in terms of Champions Trophy runs scored. He was renowned for his superb batting technique and elegant style. Mahela Jayawardene, the former captain of Sri Lanka, is described as enduring, loyal, affable, and productive.

Jayawardene appeared in five Champions Trophy games, totalling 21 innings. In 22 Champions Trophy matches, Jayawardene has 742 runs at an average of 41.22 and five half-centuries. He is also Sri Lanka's leading run scorer in the Champions Trophy. 


3. Shikhar Dhawan (India)- 701 Runs

Shikhar Dhawan, lovingly known as 'Gabbar', is a former Indian opener recognised for his exceptional hitting technique and aggressive batting style. He is India's all-time leading run-scorer in the competition and the third-highest in the Champions Trophy.

He has scored 701 runs in ten Champions Trophy matches, with an impressive average of 77.88. His high score in the event is 125 runs. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded Player of the Tournament following India's title triumph in 2013 after scoring 363 runs in five matches at an average of 90.75. Meanwhile, he also proved a reliable player in the 2017 edition, scoring the remaining 338 runs. 


4. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)- 683 Runs

Kumar Sangakkara, another veteran Sri Lankan icon, is well-known for his remarkable batting ability in the top order. He is the fourth-highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy. Sangakkara has always been one of the prominent top-order batting veterans who has created a pivotal impact, changed the dynamics of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team, and got them a name in the competitive space of the sport of cricket.

He has amassed a total of 683 runs in 22 Champions Trophy matches, with the highest score being 134 not out. He also has four half-centuries to his name in the tournament. 


5. Sourav Ganguly (India)- 665 Runs

Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain and left-handed swashbuckling hitter, is the fifth-highest-scoring player in the ICC Champions Trophy. Ganguly is second in the list of most runs scored by an Indian player in the Champions Trophy, with 665 in 13 matches.

From 1998 to 2004, he averaged 73.88 and scored three centuries and three half-centuries. Under his guidance, India reached the Champions Trophy final, and they shared the championship with Sri Lanka in 2002, making it their first-ever title in the realm of the ICC Champions Trophy vertical.
