After the announcement of the first phase schedule of the Indian Premier League 2026, every franchise has started planning, preparing, and training for the 19th season of the tournament. While some teams already look fully prepared with strategies made during the IPL 2026 auction, others may still be waiting to show their plans as the tournament moves forward.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad enter IPL 2026 with many questions but also a lot of potential. On paper, this is still one of the most dangerous squads in the league. However, in reality, SRH are coming after another season where their promise did not fully turn into good results.

Their 2025 season showed both hope and frustration. SRH started the season very well, but an inconsistent middle phase pushed them out of the top four. In the end, they could only finish in sixth place. SRH are not rebuilding from the beginning, but they are trying to fix the problems that stopped them from becoming a strong title contender.

The 2026 squad also shows some interesting changes. After the recently finished ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, players like Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan are coming in with dangerous form. Although Abhishek struggled during most of the tournament, he gave India a strong start in the final. Pat Cummins will continue as captain, and Daniel Vettori has been retained as the head coach. The core of the team is also the same. Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ishan Kishan will lead the batting lineup. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone has joined the team as a major auction signing. Around them, SRH have added or kept enough supporting players to give the team more flexibility than last season, especially in the all-rounder and bowling departments. The goal is clear: keep the aggressive batting style, but stop depending only on the batting lineup.

Throughout this article, we will analyze the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for IPL 2026.

Strengths

There is no doubt that the batting lineup of the Sunrisers Hyderabad is their biggest strength. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma form one of the most aggressive opening pairs in the Indian Premier League. If they start well, it becomes very difficult for bowlers to settle into the game. The middle order is also very strong. Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ishan Kishan, and Aniket Verma can change the game in just a few overs. When you add the power hitting of Liam Livingstone, the all-round ability of Jack Edwards, and the finishing skills of Salil Arora, SRH look like a team that can score more than 220 runs on flat pitches. On their best day, this batting lineup can put huge pressure on even the strongest bowling attacks.

The squad also has players who can play specific roles in the team. Harsh Dubey, Kamindu Mendis, Brydon Carse, Jack Edwards, and Shivam Mavi give SRH many options while selecting the playing XI. Dubey is especially important because he is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder. He comes into the season after taking 69 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. His presence gives SRH a better balance in the team, so they do not have to choose only between strong batting or strong bowling.

Weakness

While the batting lineup looks very strong, the bowling of the Sunrisers Hyderabad still raises some concerns. The trade that sent Mohammed Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants was a big loss for the team. Without him, the pace attack does not have a clear leader. Pat Cummins brings experience and leadership to the bowling unit. However, apart from him, the attack can be inconsistent. Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Shivam Mavi, and Brydon Carse have all performed well in some IPL matches. But none of them can guarantee good control in every game.

Spin bowling is another concern. Harsh Dubey, Zeeshan Ansari, and Kamindu Mendis are talented players, but they do not have much experience. On pitches that help spin, SRH may find it difficult to control the opposition batters.

Opportunities

The path to success for the Sunrisers Hyderabad is quite simple. If their batters stay in good form and the bowlers deliver disciplined spells, the team can dominate matches and push strongly for the title in the Indian Premier League 2026. The refreshed squad also gives the team new confidence for the season. If Harsh Dubey becomes good enough to keep a regular place in the playing XI, SRH will gain many advantages. They will have an Indian left-arm spin option, extra batting depth at No. 8, and the freedom to play an explosive top six without weakening the bowling attack. Nitish Kumar Reddy could be a very important player for the team. If he performs well in his role, SRH will not only attack hard but will also be able to control the flow of the innings.

Threats

The biggest threat for the Sunrisers Hyderabad is their own ultra-attacking style of play. The Indian Premier League 2025 season showed that careless shot selection in pressure situations can quickly destroy their strong batting power. Some rival teams also have stronger and more balanced bowling attacks than SRH.

Sunrisers Hyderabad do not lack talent. What they need in IPL 2026 is the right balance between aggression and awareness, and between flair and control. If they find this balance, SRH have everything they need to fight for a second IPL title. But if they fail to find that balance, it could become another season of “what could have been.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2026 squad:

Abhishek Sharma, Aniket Verma, Brydon Carse, Eshan Malinga, Harsh Dubey, Harshal Patel, Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, Jaydev Unadkat, Kamindu Mendis, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins, R Smaran, Travis Head, Zeeshan Ansari, Shivang Kumar, Sakib Hussain, Salil Arora, Onkar Tarmale, Amit Kumar, Liam Livingstone, Shivam Mavi, Jack Edwards

Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) announced their new jersey for the IPL 2026 season with a special theme, which is called “Lines of Legacy.” The concept reflects the franchise’s most memorable moments from the past years. These historic moments have been turned into design elements on the jersey.

The new jersey symbolizes the journey of the team since the beginning of the IPL. From Brendon McCullum’s historic 158* in the first IPL match in 2008 to Rinku Singh’s famous five sixes in the final over, these are the moments on which the new jersey design is based.

When these lines come together, they form the letters K-K-R in a unique abstract linear design. The franchise said that the idea allows fans to wear a piece of the team’s history. Instead of just remembering the past, the legacy has now been woven directly into the jersey.

Creative Campaign Celebrates Kolkata Knight Riders’ Legacy

To promote the jersey launch, the franchise rolled out a special social media campaign. The campaign included a promotional film featuring actor Rajat Bedi, comedian Anirban Dasgupta and several content creators from Kolkata. The idea was to incorporate humor and pop culture into the jersey.

Speaking about the jersey launch, Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore highlighted the importance of the team’s legacy. “The Lines of Legacy captures the essence of KKR's storied history and celebrates the journey of the team over the years. Each line represents a pivotal moment of brilliance, reflecting the energy and spirit that weaves together to form our identity. We are proud of this legacy that we have built and want to carry it into the upcoming season while creating more memories for our fans to cherish.”

The promotional campaign titled “Kya Line Hai?” featured actor Rajat Bedi and comedian Anirban Dasgupta along with several popular creators. According to KKR’s Chief Marketing Officer Binda Dey, the campaign was designed to connect fans with the team’s iconic moments while bringing humor and pop culture into the storytelling.

Fans React to KKR’s New IPL 2026 Jersey

The new jersey launch of Kolkata Knight Riders created a lot of excitement among fans on social media. The hashtag #LinesOfLegacy trended online for almost 48 hours after the launch. Many supporters liked the design because it mixes the team’s history with a fresh and modern style. They also shared positive reactions about the jersey, stating how it looks special and significant for the team.

There are also comments from fans stating how the jersey resembles the team’s golden days, particularly when they won in the Indian Premier League. The gold color used in the jersey was also highly praised. The jersey also featured three stars, representing the team’s Indian Premier League titles in 2012, 2014, and 2024.

What the ‘Lines of Legacy’ Design Represents

The Kolkata Knight Riders 2026 jersey will be based on the “Lines of Legacy” theme. The design will incorporate abstract gold lines, which will represent some of the best moments for the Kolkata Knight Riders. These include Brendon McCullum’s 158* in the first match of IPL 2008 and Rinku’s five consecutive sixes in IPL 2023. When the jersey is seen from a distance, the gold lines spell out "K K R" on the chest.

There is a crest with three stars above the logo to celebrate the team’s victory in the Indian Premier League in 2012, 2014, and 2024. There is the use of sharp patterns that symbolize the energy of the city of Kolkata and the stadium, Eden Gardens. The traditional purple color with gold is a connection to the past and the determination to win the IPL 2026, which commences on March 29 against Mumbai Indians.

KKR Preparing for IPL 2026 Season

Kolkata Knight Riders are entering IPL 2026 with some new changes in their squad. Ajinkya Rahane will continue as the captain. The head coach of the team is Abhishek Nayar. The team also added former West Indies star Dwayne Bravo as a mentor. The team has signed Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for ₹25.20 crore and Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana in the mini-auction. However, bowlers Harshit Rana and Pathirana are currently dealing with injuries.

KKR will begin their IPL 2026 campaign with an away match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on March 29. After that, they will play three home matches at Eden Gardens against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants as they aim to start the season strongly.

<![CDATA[List of players who have left PSL for IPL]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/list-of-players-who-have-left-psl-for-ipl/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/list-of-players-who-have-left-psl-for-ipl/ Sat, 14 Mar 2026 15:44:03 GMT

Due to the growing popularity of T20 cricket, almost every major country now organizes its own franchise league. The immense success of the Indian Premier League in India has played a significant role in promoting this trend. Countries such as Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, and South Africa have also launched their own T20 leagues, while England organizes The Hundred. However, most overseas players prefer to prioritize the IPL, as it features many of the biggest international stars and offers some of the most lucrative contracts in franchise cricket.

However, the dream of playing in the IPL is not fulfilled for all players, as quite unexpected things can happen during the auction. In such cases, many domestic and foreign players also remain unsold. Most foreign players, when unsold in the Indian league, choose the Pakistan league, and something similar was done by Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, but now he has withdrawn his name from the PSL because he has been picked by Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement for IPL 2026.

So, keeping this in mind, let's take a look at the list of those players who decided to leave the Pakistan Super League for the Indian Premier League.

1. Corbin Bosch

Corbin Bosch

South Africa's all-rounder Corbin Bosch was unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. After this, Bosch turned to the Pakistan Super League, where he was picked as a diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi in the draft. However, later, when Mumbai Indians' fast bowler Lizaad Williams got injured and was ruled out, Bosch was signed as a replacement. Following this, the right-handed all-rounder withdrew from the PSL, which led the PCB to issue a one-year ban on him in anger. However, this did not make much difference, and Bosch played the last season of the IPL and was retained by MI in 2026 as well.

2. Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis played for GT in IPL 2025

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis participated in PSL 2025 and was part of the Quetta Gladiators. However, when a tense situation arose on the border between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Super League was suspended for some time. After that, Mendis withdrew his name from the league, citing security reasons. Later, he was signed by the Gujarat Titans as a replacement for Jos Buttler, who was not available for the IPL 2025 playoffs due to national duty.

3. Kyle Jamieson

Kyle Jamieson is also part of this list, who left PSL for IPL

Kyle Jamieson is also among the players who left the PSL for IPL. The New Zealand pacer went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and later featured for Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. However, during the IPL season, Punjab Kings suffered a setback when their fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was ruled out midway through the tournament due to injury, prompting the franchise to sign Jamieson as a replacement. Following the conclusion of his PSL commitments, there were expectations that he would join the IPL side, but when the PSL was suspended due to border tensions, Jamieson opted not to return and made himself available for the Punjab Kings instead.

4. Mitchell Owen

Mitchell Owen came into the limelight after scoring hundred in BBL final

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen was not bought by anyone in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Then he made headlines by scoring 108 runs off 42 balls in the BBL final. After this, he got a chance to play in the Pakistan Super League. However, when Punjab Kings' all-rounder Glenn Maxwell got injured, Owen was named an injury replacement. Initially, Owen was also supposed to come to the IPL after the PSL season, just like Jamieson, but then he did not return and joined the Punjab Kings.

5. Blessing Muzarabani

Blessing Muzarabani is set to play for KKR

Blessing Muzarabani is considered an expert fast bowler in T20 cricket and has experience playing around the world. Last season in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed Muzarabani as Lungi Ngidi's temporary replacement. Although he went unsold at the IPL mini-auction, a similar situation occurred in the Pakistan Super League. Later, Islamabad United signed him directly, and he was set to play in PSL 2026, which starts on March 26. However, after Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for the upcoming IPL Season as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, Muzarabani had to withdraw from the PSL because both leagues are held at the same time.

Indian Premier League 2026 is set to begin on March 28. On March 11, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the official start date of the IPL's 19th season along with the schedule for the first phase of the tournament. The full schedule has not been released yet, as elections are scheduled to be held in several states. Once the election dates are announced, the board will also release the schedule for the second phase of matches.

In this IPL season as well, a total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament, and exciting matches will be seen among them to win the title. However, the effort of all teams will first be to overcome the challenge of the league stage and secure a place in the playoffs. The teams that remain in the top 4 of the points table in the league stage get a chance to advance, while the other six teams have to face disappointment.

Ahead of the IPL 2026, let's take a look at four teams that appear to be strong contenders to make the playoffs.

1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB once again looks strong

The first name on this list is defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The franchise had to wait 17 seasons to win its maiden IPL title despite being led by several big names, including Virat Kohli. However, in IPL 2025, Rajat Patidar created history by guiding the team to its first trophy. The squad once again looks strong, with key players like Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Josh Hazlewood, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Meanwhile, the addition of all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has further strengthened the squad. The bowling attack has also received a boost with the inclusion of Jacob Duffy, who was the leading wicket-taker in international cricket last year. With a balanced squad and several match-winners, RCB appear to be strong contenders for a playoff spot.

2. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians players during a huddle

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians seem to be strong contenders for a playoff spot in IPL 2026. The biggest reason behind this is the good form of several key players. MI's biggest strength is its experienced Indian players. This includes captain Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma. Except for Rohit, the other four were recently seen in the T20 World Cup 2026. They also played an important role in India's title win.

Apart from these, the Mumbai Indians have two excellent spin all-rounders, Mitchell Santner and Will Jacks. The team, owned by Nita Ambani, had included three players through trading before the mini-auction. This includes Shardul Thakur, Sherfane Rutherford, and Mayank Markande. Rutherford's recent form is very good, and he could become the X-factor for the team.

In addition, Quinton de Kock's return has helped strengthen the batting. Meanwhile, along with Bumrah, the pace bowling department also has skilled bowlers like Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult. Because of all these factors, the Mumbai Indians team appears to be quite balanced.

3. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings players during a huddle

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings performed brilliantly in the 18th season of the IPL, but in the end, they had to be content with being the runners-up. Punjab's team was defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Despite missing out on the title, the team did not make many changes to their squad and only released two major players, Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis. Maxwell's form was poor, and Inglis's full-season availability was uncertain.

For this reason, the Punjab Kings released both of them. Meanwhile, three other players were also shown the exit. In the mini-auction, PBKS bought two international players from Australia, Ben Dwarshuis and Cooper Connolly. They also added two uncapped players to their squad. In this way, Punjab Kings have strengthened their squad and, under Shreyas' captaincy, once again appear to be strong contenders for the playoffs.

The most important factor for the Punjab Kings will be the performance of their young batters, as they performed exceptionally well last season. The rest of the bowling unit features the experienced trio of Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Meanwhile, pace all-rounders Marco Jansen and Marcus Stoinis will provide balance to the playing XI.

4. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals players celebrating wicket

Delhi Capitals appear to be a strong contender to secure the fourth spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. Delhi has a tremendous squad, led by all-rounder Axar Patel. Many players who will be seen in the T20 World Cup 2026 are a part of DC, which could prove beneficial for them.

In batting, there are skilled players like KL Rahul, Ben Duckett, Pathum Nissanka, Prithvi Shaw, David Miller, Nitish Rana, and Tristan Stubbs. Meanwhile, as all-rounders, captain Axar and Vipraj Nigam will also be part of the team. Uncapped Ashutosh Sharma will once again have the responsibility of playing the finisher's role.

Delhi Capitals already had pace bowlers like Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan, and Mukesh Kumar. Now, Auqib Nabi has also joined them, who has performed exceptionally well in domestic cricket. Meanwhile, as the main spinner, the responsibility will lie with Kuldeep Yadav, who can entrap any batting unit on his own.

Photos and videos from the pre-wedding celebrations of Kuldeep Yadav in Mussoorie are quickly going viral on social media. Family members and friends gathered there to celebrate the special occasion with Kuldeep and Vanshika Chadha.

During the event, a video went viral in which former Indian team coach T. Dilip was seen dancing with great energy on the stage. His lively dance became one of the highlights of the night and added more fun to the celebration.

Besides Dilip, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and Kuldeep were also seen dancing to popular Bollywood songs. Their performance became a special attraction for the guests. As soon as the video appeared online, fans loved it and started sharing it widely.

Cricketers Join the Celebration

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also joined the sangeet ceremony. He was seen dancing and enjoying the music with other guests. This fun moment of the cricketers is being liked by both the guests at the event and people on social media.

Kuldeep Yadav is set to marry his childhood friend Vanshika Chadha on March 14, 2026, in Mussoorie. The wedding celebrations started with the Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies on March 13, followed by the sangeet ceremony in the evening. The wedding is being held privately at a luxury resort, with only family members and close friends attending.

Kuldeep did not get many chances to play in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. India national cricket team won the title in the tournament, but Kuldeep played only one match. He bowled three overs and took one wicket for 14 runs in the group-stage game against the Pakistan national cricket team. Because the team had many spin bowling options, he did not get more chances to play.

Vanshika wore a beautiful lehenga with detailed embroidery that shone brightly. The outfit had a flowing layered skirt, a matching blouse, and a light embroidered dupatta. She completed her look with statement jewellery, including a choker-style necklace.

Kuldeep wore a royal navy blue velvet sherwani. The sherwani had delicate embroidered designs and was paired with simple black bottoms. He also wore a heavily embroidered multi-coloured shawl over one shoulder, which gave his outfit a royal look.

In the recently finished ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Kuldeep played only one match. It was the group-stage game against the Pakistan national cricket team in Colombo. In that match, he bowled three overs and took 1 wicket for 14 runs.

The conditions at R. Premadasa Stadium allowed India to play three spinners, and the team won the match by 61 runs. After that, in other matches where the pitch helped batsmen more, the team management chose Varun Chakravarthy as the second spinner along with Axar Patel.

After the wedding celebrations, Kuldeep will join the Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The tournament will begin on March 28 in Bengaluru. For the 31-year-old cricketer, it will soon be back to cricket as usual.

The left-arm pacer of the Uttar Pradesh and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) side, Yash Dayal, has suffered a massive setback after the Jaipur POSCO court rejected his anticipatory bail pleas in the case of the alleged rape of the minor girl. The order by Judge Alka Bansal of the Jaipur Metropolitan Court stated that the material on record does not suggest that Dayal was falsely implicated.

The investigation indicated his possible involvement, which has led to Dayal not being granted anticipatory bail at this stage. The 28-year-old has picked up a total of 41 wickets in 43 innings of the league, out of which 13 wickets came in the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in 15 innings at an average of 36.15 and an economy rate of 9.59.

An FIR has been registered at the Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur, where the minor complainant alleged that the pacer lured her with promises of helping in her cricketing career, besides emotionally blackmailing her and raping repeatedly over the last 30 months, including at the hotels in Jaipur and Kanpur.

Yash Dayal's bail plea rejected on POSCO case

Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, argued that he only met the girl in public places but was never alone in that moment. She presented herself as an adult and took the money from him, citing the financial problems, and then kept demanding more. The case has been filed to harass. The defense has also claimed that a related case in Ghaziabad is part of the same allegation.

In reflection of the same incident, a police complaint has been lodged against the former captain of the RCB franchise, Virat Kohli, in Bengaluru in connection with the stampede case near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, for which the ground was closed for nearly nine months.

Bengaluru will begin their campaign for the IPL 2026 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Rajat Patidar-led side will look to make a strong start in defense of their title that they won last year against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
