The likes of Williamson, Conway, Southee and Boult are playing their first T20I after the 2021 World Cup. Williamson is back in the short format but his elbow condition is still uncertain. His elbow has been nagging him a lot over the last year and he will hope the gap has allowed that issue to be solved.

Another issue for New Zealand is Trent Boult. Boult is arguably one of the best all-format bowlers going around. Him not getting a central contract though raises questions on his availability. While he is in the squad for the series, it will be interesting to see how many games he is going to be picked for going forward.

Results may not show it, but West Indies are builidng a pretty solid line-up. There are steady batters at the top, some big hitters and a decent bowling unit in the back. Like South Africa, West Indies have a lot of potential and if they start living up to it they will be a huge force in white-ball cricket.

West Indies vs New Zealand Head to Head

Played-16 | West Indies-5 | New Zealand-9 | No Result- 2

Match Details

Match: West Indies vs New Zealand

Date: 11th August 2022

Time: 12:00 AM IST

Venue: Sabina Park, Kingston Jamaica

Weather Report

Heat and clear skies with mild chances of rain are expected during the West Indies vs New Zealand fixture.

Pitch Report

The Jamaica track is dry and will likely take turn despite offering a high amount of runs.

West Indies vs New Zealand Predicted Playing XI

West Indies Playing XI

Kyle Mayers, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran(c,wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovmann Powell, Jason Holder, Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hossein, Obed McCoy, Hayden Walsh Jr

New Zealand Women Playing XI

Tom Latham/ Martin Guptill/Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Michael Bracewell/ Ish Sodhi, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry/ Trent Boult

Key Players

Devon Conway

Devon Conway is playing his first T20I after his freak injury in the World Cup semi-finals. While he is a talented player and one of New Zealand’s best in the format there is going to be some pressure on him. In his absence, Martin Guptill, Finn Allen and Tom Latham opened the batting, and came up with decent performances of their own. Additionally, Daryl Mitchell is competing for his own opening spot as well, making the top look like there is a lot of traffic. While his spot is far from threat, he will need to prove that he is the best opener among the options in the upcoming games.

Jason Holder

Jason Holder had a silent series against India. He is among the most imapctfuol all-rounders in World Cricket at the moment, but with West Indies going through a lot of changes in their line-up, he will have to be a little watchful. His experience is worth a lot for West Indies and the stability he provides is absolute gold. Jason Holder though needs to prove that he has what it takes to contribute.

West Indies vs New Zealand Match Tips

New Zealand are finally back with their full side. While West Indies has some nice names, they are still growing and may have it tough against some seasoned cricketers in the New Zealand camp.

Match Prediction: New Zealand will win the match.
