India commenced the Day 2 with Karun Nair and Washington Sundar at the crease. But Nair stay was halted as Josh Tongue picked his wicket. Soon after Washington Sundar departed and the English bowlers took no time to dismiss the tailenders.

India ended their innings with just 224 runs on the board. Nair remained the highest scorer for India with 57 runs followed by Sai Sudharsan’s gritty 38 runs off 108 balls. One glaring aspect of the India’s batting collapse was that the tailenders accounted to zero runs.

<![CDATA[WATCH: Former India cricketer shares hilarious video of Cheteshwar Pujara lookalike during ENG vs IND 2025 Test series]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-former-india-cricketer-shares-hilarious-video-of-cheteshwar-pujara-lookalike-during-eng-vs-ind-2025-test-series/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-former-india-cricketer-shares-hilarious-video-of-cheteshwar-pujara-lookalike-during-eng-vs-ind-2025-test-series/ Fri, 18 Jul 2025 20:27:19 GMT

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik added a touch of humor to the ongoing Test series between England and India by revealing a doppelganger of Cheteshwar Pujara. Currently part of the broadcast and commentary panel for the series, Karthik shared a light-hearted video on Instagram comparing Pujara with a British sports journalist. The post quickly went viral among fans and fellow commentators.

“What I'm going to show you right now is one cricketer and another person who looks so similar, from a completely different part of the globe. Let me show you all.
This is Cheteshwar Pujara, an Indian cricketer and a man who's into broadcasting recently, and have a look at this, this is Alex Noble,” Karthik said in the video. He then asked both individuals if they thought they resembled each other, which led to a hearty laugh among them all. Karthik affectionately dubbed Alex Noble a “proper doppelganger.”

Alex Noble is a sports journalist with BBC Sport, while Cheteshwar Pujara is currently working as part of the broadcast team during the England series. The moment provided a much-needed comic relief amid the intensity of the ongoing Test battle.

Pujara Continues to Wait for India Recall

Pujara, 37, last represented India in the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval. Since then, he has been consistently overlooked, missing out on both home and away series, including the ongoing five-match tour of England. Despite his vast experience of 103 Tests and over 7000 runs, Pujara has not been selected in favor of younger players.

Pujara has been active in first-class cricket, scoring 402 runs in seven matches for Saurashtra during the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season, which included a double hundred. While senior pros like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are absent from the current squad, Pujara still hasn’t found a way back into the team. For now, his role behind the mic is the only presence fans can witness during the England tour.

India seamer Arshdeep Singh shared a fun moment on social media on Thursday, July 17, just days after India’s 22-run loss to England in the third Test at Lord’s. In an Instagram reel, Arshdeep was seen dancing alongside spinner Kuldeep Yadav as he tried to teach him a few moves to the Punjabi track ‘SIRRA’ by Guru Randhawa. What made the video more entertaining was that the music wasn’t playing in the background; Arshdeep himself sang the song while the duo danced together.

Arshdeep captioned the post, “Dance class starting soon,” bringing some cheer to Indian fans amid the tense Test series.
Both Arshdeep and Kuldeep are yet to get any game time in the five-match series so far. Arshdeep, who earned his maiden Test call-up, is still awaiting his red-ball debut. Kuldeep, meanwhile, has continued to warm the bench despite his strong credentials as a Test bowler.

Moeen Ali backs Kuldeep’s inclusion—but sees no easy fit

Kuldeep Yadav, with 56 wickets in 13 Tests at an average of 22.16 and four five-wicket hauls, has a proven red-ball record. However, the Indian team has opted for Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as their two main spin options so far in the series, keeping Kuldeep out of the playing XI.

Speaking about Kuldeep’s continued absence, former England all-rounder Moeen Ali said, “I would like to see Kuldeep in the team, but I don't know who for. Washington bowled well; Jadeja batted well. So it makes it difficult to bring Kuldeep Yadav in on the side. I would like to see Kuldeep in, but I don't think they can fit him in.” The fourth Test between India and England is set to begin on Wednesday, July 23, at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

<![CDATA[[WATCH] ENG vs IND 1st Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal dances after dropping 4 catches, gets trolled online]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-eng-vs-ind-1st-test-yashasvi-jaiswal-dances-after-dropping-4-catches-gets-trolled-online/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/watch-eng-vs-ind-1st-test-yashasvi-jaiswal-dances-after-dropping-4-catches-gets-trolled-online/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 11:11:46 GMT

India’s new era in Test cricket under captain Shubman Gill began on a disastrous note, as the visitors suffered a five-wicket defeat against England in the opening match of the five-Test series at Headingley, Leeds. Despite five centuries being recorded across both innings by the Indian batters, their efforts fell short as England successfully chased down a daunting 371-run target. Fielding proved to be India’s Achilles heel, with six dropped catches in the first innings and an even more costly show in the second—particularly by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal had a torrid time in the slip cordon, dropping four catches in the second innings alone—the most ever by a player in a single Test innings.
One of those misses was Ben Duckett, who was on 97 at the time. Duckett went on to score 149, guiding England comfortably home. The young batter’s poor outing was made worse by a video that went viral on social media, showing him dancing and smiling near the boundary at long-on shortly after dropping Duckett’s crucial catch. Fans were quick to slam his attitude, viewing it as a lack of seriousness in a high-pressure situation.

The backlash was swift and intense, with social media users questioning Jaiswal's focus and dedication, with even the short clip of him engaging with the English crowd seconds after an expensive blunder feeding the fire of India being criticized for lack of sharpness on the field.

However, former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin stepped in to defend the youngster, urging critics to understand the challenges of fielding in England. “There has been some talk about his catching at a slip cordon. Yes, he has found it tough. But let's all just understand something—and cut [him] some slack—which we often fail to do: how difficult it is to catch, not just in English conditions. It's cold weather, and it's also about the feel of the Duke's ball. It can take some adaptation time. The SG ball feels nice and comfortable inside the hand; the Kookaburra feels smaller. The Duke's is harder and definitely, from a field perspective, feels bigger, and it's not easy,” Ashwin explained in a video shared on X.

His comments drew a mixed response, with some fans appreciating the perspective, while others remained critical of Jaiswal’s costly lapses in a match that could’ve had a different outcome with better fielding.

<![CDATA['Phas gya match' - Fans react as England need 102 runs in third session to win ENG vs IND first Test]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/phas-gya-match-fans-react-as-england-need-102-runs-in-third-session-to-win-eng-vs-ind-first-test/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/phas-gya-match-fans-react-as-england-need-102-runs-in-third-session-to-win-eng-vs-ind-first-test/ Tue, 24 Jun 2025 21:44:22 GMT

The first Test between England and India has turned into an absolute nail-biter, and fans around the world can’t sit still. With just one session left on Day 5, England need only 102 more runs to pull off a stunning chase, while India are giving it everything to grab those last few wickets and steal the win back. And if that wasn’t dramatic enough, there’s another twist in the tale dark clouds are hovering over Headingley, and rain could show up at any moment to throw a curveball into this already tense finish.Earlier in the day, India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrahand Mohammed Siraj, tried every trick in the book to break England’s resistance. Siraj bowled his heart out and almost got a crucial breakthrough when Ben Duckett, who has looked rock-solid, edged one to the slips on 97. But young Yashasvi Jaiswal couldn’t hold on a miss that has already sparked endless debates and jokes online.

Fans took to Twitter in droves, with “Phas gya match” quickly trending as Indian supporters began to fear the worst. Some still back Bumrah and Jadeja to pull off something special with the old ball and help India snatch a dramatic win.
Others are already praying for the weather to intervene and save the day if the bowlers can’t.England, meanwhile, have batted with typical Bazball confidence. Duckett’s near-century and Pope’s calm support have given them a solid platform. A few more boundaries, and this could be over fast unless rain clouds decide to have their say first.

With every over, the tension just keeps building. One breakthrough could blow this game wide open for India, but every run brings England closer to pulling off something special. And then there’s the rain will a sudden downpour bail India out at the last second, or will the clouds drift away just in time for England to finish the job?
Nobody knows, and that’s what makes this finish so nerve-wracking!.Twitter is buzzing with anxious fans, memes, and desperate weather updates. As it stands, both teams and millions of viewers are glued to the sky and the pitch, ready for what promises to be a nerve-wracking finale. One way or another, this Test match is going down to the wire!

RJ Mahvash has finally addressed the wave of trolling and ongoing speculation surrounding her career, particularly claims linking her success to cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. In a video posted on June 20, Mahvash directly responded to online critics by presenting evidence of her longstanding career in the media industry. She made it clear that her achievements predate any association with Chahal, highlighting that she had already established herself well before the dating rumors began.

Speculation around Mahvash’s personal life gained momentum following Yuzvendra Chahal’s divorce from Dhanashree Verma in March 2025. Her continued presence at Punjab Kings’ IPL matches and her attendance at the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai, where India clinched the title, further fueled dating rumors. Despite this, Mahvash has repeatedly maintained that she and Chahal are just friends and that she is currently single.

The video she shared on Instagram, captioned, "Jab tak khud ke liye nahi bologe, koi tumhare liye nahi bolega," featured her direct response to a troll’s comment, “Yuzi bhai ne iska career bana diya.” Mahvash replied, “2019 se iss industry mein hoon, aao dikhati hoon apna career,” and followed it with a montage of her media work—from hosting radio shows and cricket events to producing the Bollywood film Section 108 starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Responding to those questioning her cricket knowledge, she added, “Cricket pitch tak pohach gayee abto to ye, cricket ke baare me kuch janti bhi hai ye,” and included visuals of her interviews with MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, and Harbhajan Singh.

RJ Mahvash shuts down trolls with career milestones

In her video, Mahvash also responded to a troll claiming that her access to celebrities began only after her link-up with Chahal. She countered by showing photos with Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, and more, proving her deep roots in the entertainment industry. She didn’t stop there—Mahvash showcased her roles as an author and as the lead actress in Amazon Prime's Pyaar Paisa Profit, along with snippets of her award show appearances.

Ending her video with a powerful message, Mahvash declared, “Itni toh tumhari umar bhi nahi hai jitna lamba mera career raha hai. Scientist baap ki bachi hoon, aur baaki ka talent Amazon pe dekh lena.” She then stood firmly by Chahal, stating, “Main poori duniya ko bolungi ki jisey main jaanti hoon, woh super-talented hai. I will never back down from supporting a friend.” In response, Chahal commented on her post, “Respect! More power to you!”

Shubman Gill made history on Friday, June 20, by scoring a century in his very first Test match as captain. Batting at No. 4, the 25-year-old reached his hundred during the third session on Day 1 against England at Headingley in Leeds.

Gill was named India’s 37th Test captain on May 24, 2025, when the selectors announced the team for the five-match Test series. Just weeks later, he walked out to lead the team and made his mark right away with the bat.

With this century, Gill became only the fifth Indian to score a hundred in his first Test as captain. He now joins a special list that includes Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Virat Kohli.

<![CDATA['Jab se RCB jeeti hai....' - Sonu Nigam takes cryptic dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL 2025 triumph]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/jab-se-rcb-jeeti-hai-sonu-nigam-takes-cryptic-dig-at-royal-challengers-bengaluru-ipl-2025-triumph/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/jab-se-rcb-jeeti-hai-sonu-nigam-takes-cryptic-dig-at-royal-challengers-bengaluru-ipl-2025-triumph/ Tue, 17 Jun 2025 12:46:07 GMT

Popular singer Sonu Nigam ignited a raging online controversy with a mysterious X post after Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) long-awaited IPL 2025 victory. Nigam penned, "Jab se RCB IPL jeeti hai, tabse duniya mein kuch bhi achcha nahi ho raha hai!" —words that left people wondering if it was a light-hearted remark or a dark critique of the happenings in the wake of RCB's victory.

The remark, posted shortly after RCB won their inaugural IPL trophy on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, soon went viral.
While some netizens interpreted it as a cheeky reference to RCB's sudden end to an 18-year title wait, others took it to be an indication of the tragedies that ensued, such as the June 4 stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in which 11 people died and more than 30 were injured, and the June 12 Air India crash near Ahmedabad when 265 people were killed.

Nigam, known for his outspoken nature, did not provide any clarification, adding to the ambiguity. His post became a lightning rod on X, sparking reactions ranging from amusement to outrage. While vague, the comment went viral—memes engulfed timelines, and the sentence trended for hours, attributing RCB's win to a string of bad luck mishaps.

People's Reactions to Nigam's Remark

Fans were particularly polarized. Some appreciated the dry humor of the post and interpreted it as a cultural representation of RCB's mythical "jinx," while others criticized the insensitivity, particularly in the wake of lives lost during victory celebrations. With Nigam remaining tight-lipped, the controversy hangs in the air—giving an unwelcome edge to what would otherwise have been an unrestrained moment of joy for RCB fans.

Bollywood hunk Tiger Shroff recently ignited the internet with a now-viral Instagram video that highlighted his cricketing abilities in nothing but black underwear. Joining him for practice was seasoned actor Akshay Kumar as they took a break from filming, and Shroff's cut body and strong batting elicited mixed reactions. While others admired his sportsmanship, others trolled him for his out-of-the-belongings outfit, with people posting "Kapde pehen ke bhi khel lo" on social media. The video, titled "Koi technique nahi par bahot jaan hai" (No technique, but a lot of power), was meant to point out that he had the skills to play huge shots, even impressing Akshay Kumar, who cheered from the non-striker's end.

This isn’t Shroff’s first experience with cricket or bold behaviors. He is known for being fit and taking action in roles and has shared parts of his athleticism time and time again through his gym workouts or football games. The cricket clip we saw recently was filmed during a casual game with friends, including Ganesh Acharya, which echoes his love for sport and ability to seek attention.
However, the decision to wear underwear started a flow of memes and negative comments, where netizens questioned his choice of clothing, while some praised the confidence and six-pack abs.

While there was lots of trolling on social media, his fans were excited that he has this all-rounder vibe, which has led to comparisons to cricketers like Virat Kohli. Shroff is currently shooting Baaghi 4; this bold move cements his image as a fearless entertainer, unafraid to push boundaries.
