Coach Reveals Truth]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/amol-muzumdar-s-viral-7-hour-speech-did-srk-s-chak-de-india-inspire-it-coach-reveals-truth/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/amol-muzumdar-s-viral-7-hour-speech-did-srk-s-chak-de-india-inspire-it-coach-reveals-truth/ Sun, 09 Nov 2025 12:57:38 GMT

India’s Women’s World Cup-winning head coach Amol Muzumdar revealed that his now-viral “seven hours without noise” speech was completely spontaneous. The former domestic cricket star, who led India to their first Women’s World Cup title, talked about the moment and his most memorable game of the tournament in an interview with the BCCI.

The speech was compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s famous “Sattar minute” monologue from Chak De! India, where he motivated the Indian women’s hockey team before their World Cup final. But Muzumdar said he does not plan or perform for effect — what he said came straight from his heart.

Muzumdar Speaks from the Heart

Reflecting later, Muzumdar said, “I am not about dramatics. What comes out is honest, and I speak from my heart. I do not know why people compare it to SRK’s Chak De India speech. I see things on my phone, so maybe that is why people notice similarities.”

He explained that while his team talks before most matches were planned, this one was completely spontaneous.

“Until the semifinals, I always knew what I was going to say in the huddle. I wanted to charge up the players and set the right tone. But in the finals, the seven-hour speech was totally impromptu. I did not know what I would say. I just tapped my shoulder and spoke what I felt at that moment.”

Muzumdar also recalled how India recovered after three early defeats to South Africa, Australia, and England. He said the must-win game against New Zealand was the turning point. A record partnership between centurions Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal helped India score 340/3 and secure a place in the semifinals.

From a promising, uncapped cricketer to lifting the World Cup as the head coach, Amol Muzumdar's career was full of uncertainty. During a live conversation with W. V. Raman, Muzumdar reveals how he reformed his thinking, working method, and all to become successful in his career.

It was a live chat conversation between W. V. Amol Muzumdar highlights the turning point of his career

"A conversation with Amol Muzumdar at the NCA a few years ago resulted in a few changes. I am glad I initiated that chat. Couldn't be happier for the latest WC-winning coach. Another chance for you "Muzum" next summer in England," the caption of the video, shared by W V Raman, reads.

Amol Muzumdar, in his early days on the cricket field, used to be a top-class batter. In his debut Ranji Trophy match, he scored a double hundred. Apart from Mumbai, he was associated with multiple other states in domestic cricket. Despite performing well with the bat, he never got the opportunity to play for Team India. It was the time when players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Virendra Sehwag had already made their place permanent in Team India. After retiring from his career as a professional cricketer, Muzumdar relaunched his career as a coach and gained success gradually. Now, his name is encrypted in the pages of the history book.

The whole of India is flowing in a happy river because Harmanpreet Kaur and company finally fulfilled their dream as the India Women lifted their first ever World Cup. After losing a closing final in 2017, India finally broke the jinx and gave the country's people the ultimate happiness that they had missed during the 2023 ODI Men's World Cup.

As the World Cup was happening in India, players were immensely excited and prepared to keep the trophy in India. From Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Pratika Rawal to Richa Ghosh, Harmanpreet Kaur, every player proves their worth by giving their heart and soul in every match. Their hardwork and determination made them ‘World Champions’.

In this journey, they won some, lost some. Every time they lost, they made a strong comeback. But in these ups and downs, one man stood tall behind the team and believed in them that they could do it was the Women’s team’s head coach, Amol Anil Muzumdar. When his and Harman’s team created history, he witnessed the moment, teary-eyed, and lived the dream not as a player but as a coach.

Amol Muzumdar: The Man Behind the World Cup Glory:

Amol Muzumdar has been one of the most respected names in Indian cricket. He had a fantastic domestic career and had over 11000 runs in his name. Unfortunately, despite having a wonderful domestic career, he didn’t get a chance to represent the country at an international level. While growing up in Mumbai, he got training under the great coach Ramakant Achrekar, who also mentored the great Sachin Tendulkar.

After sharing the dressing room with young Sachin Tendulkar for many years, he learned how to bat with timing and patience. In his youth, Amol showcased his potential talent, which was reflected in his domestic career. His promising greatness with the bat inspires upcoming generational talents.

Amol Muzumdar: A Promising Talent of His Time:

Amol Muzumdar started his first-class cricket at the age of 19 with an unbeaten 260. He smashed this run while debuting in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in 1993 against Haryana. His amazing inning existed as an unbreakable record for nearly 25 years. He has been an integral part of Mumbai for almost two decades. He also played as saviour whenever the Mumbai team was in trouble. In his first-class career, he scored 11167 runs, which includes 30 centuries.

He has been a consistent batter at no 3 and 4. He also became captain for Mumbai in 2006-07. Under his captaincy, Mumbai emerged victorious for the 37th time over Bengal. Apart from Mumbai, He was also part of the Assam and Andhra teams, respectively. In his glorious cricketing career, his only setback was not representing India at the International level as his competition was stalwarts like Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, and many more. Despite playing only first-class matches, his career was inspirational for upcoming promising talents.

Amol Muzumdar’s Glorious Coaching Journey:

In 2014, he announced his retirement from cricket. After that, he turned his attention towards coaching with the same pure intention. He coached India’s U-19 team and U-23 team. He also worked as a batting coach for Rajasthan Royals from 2018 to 2020. He also guided the South African team when they came to play a series in India in 2018.

In 2021, he was appointed as head coach for Mumbai. As a coach, his biggest achievement was becoming the head coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. After taking the responsibility, he brought discipline within the team, boosted confidence, and taught the team how to play with a tactical approach. His hardwork, determination, and honesty towards the country and team rewarded him with the World Cup victory.

It is the pressure time for the Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, as India Women are set to face New Zealand Women in almost their do-or-die game in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, as both teams are fighting for the only remaining spots of the Semi-finals along with co-hosts Sri Lanka Women. Hosts India Women are in the present situation due to losing the last three close games; the Indian skipper is under immense pressure. However, the Indian head coach Amol Muzumdar has defended the skipper before India Women's most important match in the league stage of the tournament.

India Women earn four points after five matches

While India Women started the tournament strongly by beating Sri Lanka Women and Pakistan Women by 59 runs (DLS method) and 88 runs, respectively, they lost their last three games against South Africa Women, Australia Women, and England Women by three wickets, three wickets, and four runs, respectively. If India Women win both the remaining matches against New Zealand Women and Bangladesh Women, they will comfortably advance to the Semi-finals, but they have to win these matches first. Meanwhile, another defeat means that the Semi-finals qualification won't be totally in their hands.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has faced massive criticism along with the team management for their recent struggle to win the match, mainly due to a lack of finishing skills and poor planning.

She's been leading fantastically: Indian head coach about the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur

Meanwhile, before their last game against England Women, where Harmanpreet Kaur scored a run-a-ball 70, the Indian skipper struggled to play good knocks in the tournament. However, the head coach is confident with the skipper.

Muzumdar said, “I don’t think it is about any kind of pressure. She’s been leading fantastically. If you look at her record in bilateral series before this World Cup, it’s been outstanding. She has guided the team through different challenges and done remarkably well. Yes, she got into her groove last game and could have converted that start into a hundred, which would have been ideal. But knowing Harman, she’s put in the hard yards, and hopefully it all clicks in the next couple of games.”

Navi Mumbai will host India Women's remaining two league stage matches against New Zealand Women and Bangladesh Women, on Thursday (October 23) and Sunday (October 26).

Indian pacer Renuka Singh will return to the team for the upcoming ODI series against Australia after being absent since December 2024, suffering from a stress fracture. The Himachal pacer missed out on months of cricket but is back with the Indian setup to spearhead the pace attack in the three-match series starting on September 14.

Renuka Singh Thakur has been a fine property for India over the last few years and has been one of India’s best strike bowlers, taking 35 ODI wickets at an impressive average of 22.02 and economy of 4.85. She has been consistently fine with the new ball and has been the linchpin of India's bowling attack.

Since her recovery, not only is Renuka back in the squad for the Australia series, but she has also been picked in India's squad for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. India's timing could not be better as they look to build momentum before their significant international matches.

Speaking ahead of the series, Indian women’s head coach Amol Muzumdar confirmed Renuka’s fitness and pivotal role in the team. “Renuka has just joined in for this series. I think she's been an integral part of this team. She had an injury and a layoff, and now she's back with us,” Muzumdar said.
