During the 14th encounter of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, the Trinbago Knight Riders locked horns with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The home captain, Nicholas Pooran, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow surface. 

The Knight Riders made just one change to the playing eleven, with Ali Khan getting into the eleven with Usman Tariq making way out. On the flip of the coin, Obed McCoy, the left-arm pacer, came into the side for the Falcons in place of Shamar Springer.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons struggle their way to 146/7

Rahkeem Cornwall continued to struggle in the first innings with the bat as he got dismissed for a two-ball duck. Jewel Andrew smashed 40 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 129.03, with the help of three boundaries and two sixes. But their middle order couldn’t make much of a contribution.

The captain of the side, Imad Wasim, drilled 37 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 148, shouldering on five boundaries, while Usama Mir clubbed 34 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 130.77, thanks to two fours and three sixes as they posted 146/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Trinbago Knight Riders complete chase by eight wickets

After the dismissal of Colin Munro, Alex Hales and Keacy Carty celebrated a partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket. The former celebrated a fine half-century and ended on unbeaten 55 runs in 46 deliveries at a strike rate of 119.57, with the help of six boundaries.

At number three, Carty smacked 60 runs in 45 balls at a strike rate of 133.33, shouldering on four boundaries and two sixes. The captain and wicket-keeper batter, Nicholas Pooran, remained undefeated on 23 runs in 11 balls at a strike rate of over 200 with two sixes to complete the chase by eight wickets.

If they are successful, this will cement their position on the table and allow them to gain additional momentum regarding the 2025 CPL campaign.  Both teams would be eagerly anticipating getting a positive result and participating in an exciting, intense contest at North Sound.
