EDR had won the toss and decided to bowl first, but ODW’s batters came out swinging. The pitch offered little help for bowlers, and runs flowed freely in the match. Still, EDR’s middle order, led by Anuj Rawat, brought the chase easily and won the match.

ODW got off to a dream start with captain Priyansh Arya leading the way. He scored a brilliant 111 off 56 balls, hitting 7 fours and 9 sixes. But EDR went about their business in style, stealing the target in only 19.2 overs and creating history. Below are the main reasons that contributed to the loss of the Outer Delhi Warriors:

1. Unable to Defend the Mammoth Total

ODW’s bowling lacked the edge with no bite despite setting a huge target of 232. Their fast bowlers missed yorkers regularly, rarely mixing up their deliveries, and their well-behaved batsmen scored freely. And not having wickets in the middle overs, the Riders were never on the backside of the required rate.

2. Explosive Knock by Rawat

Anuj Rawat was brilliant, crushing 84 off 35 balls with 9 sixes. From the very beginning, Rawat was aggressive and led to the dismantling of ODW’s bowling plans, besides shifting the entire energy to EDR. Rawat did not allow the bowlers to settle as he aimed for both speed and spin.

3. Mayank Rawat’s Brutal Finishing

During the last overs while the game was still close, Mayank Rawat played a blustery unbeaten 32 off 11 balls. His perfect ball-striking was against death bowlers, which ensured that EDR clinched the chase with 4 balls to spare; hence, ODW was completely out of the game.
