Another mystery spinner from Afghanistan will be in the IPL 2026 auction to try out his luck. With a base price of only INR 40 lakh, this spinner can be on multiple franchise radars.

20-year-old spinner Arab Gul is the new sensation from Afghanistan. He developed himself as a regular wicket-taker for Speenghar in Kabul PL. In his last three matches, he claimed wickets on a regular basis. Apart from his wicket-taking ability, the young spinner proved very useful in terms of lowering the run rate of the opposition side.

Over the years, Afghanistan has produced multiple world-class spinners like Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, and AM Ghazanfar. All of these spinners are well capable in subcontinent conditions. Khan is already a legend of Afghanistan cricket, and Ahmad was effectively a regular spinner for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025).

Arab Gul, who played for the under-19 Afghanistan cricket team, was a part of the MI franchise. Mi Emirates, on their website, stated, "Trust an Afghan leg-spinner with an action resembling Rashid Khan to send shivers down the spine of any opponent! Arab Gul is the latest in that long, rich list of spinners. His sharp and deceptive googlies stood out at the 2024 under-19 World Cup."

Rajasthan Royals (RR) perhaps find a jewel from Afghanistan. For their sister franchise, Barbados Royals, RR signed a young Afghan spinner named Arab Gul, who replaced Azmatullah Omarzai for the season. The 19-year-old spinner performed brilliantly in domestic cricket. Gol is one of the few cricketers who is able to make marks in the domestic circuit and Afghanistan's local franchise tournament.

With his exciting skill set, the emerging spinner did well enough to be noticed by scouts of the Rajasthan Royals franchise. In various age group competitions, the legbreak spinner clinched wickets in a regular manner. Gul widely made headlines for the Afghanistan 'A' team when he took a total of 10 wickets against Ireland 'A' during a multi-day match in Abu Dhabi. The young gun cleared 4 wickets in the first innings of the match and took 6 more wickets in the second.

Gul's wicket-taking ability makes him special. At this age, his control over the ball is pretty mature. The spinner can maintain a line and length according to the situation of the match. Mainly he is a legbreak bowler, but he has different types of variations in his arsenal to puzzle the batters.

In T20s, in 22 matches, the bowler claimed 29 wickets at an economy rate of below 7. During the Shpageeza Cricket League 2025, he played a pivotal role for Amo Sharks.
