Aryaveer Kohli, the nephew of cricket superstar Virat Kohli, recently caught attention when he was bought by South Delhi Superstarz, the runners-up of the Delhi Premier League 2024, for Rs 1 lakh. His selection has sparked curiosity due to his famous family connection, but Aryaveer is keen to carve out his own identity in the cricketing world.

Though Virat Kohli has set remarkable standards as one of India’s greatest batters, Aryaveer has chosen to pursue his cricketing journey on his own terms. He aims to develop his skills and make a mark independently, rather than relying solely on his uncle’s legacy.

The young talent’s debut in the Delhi Premier League provides him with a platform to showcase his abilities. Fans and selectors alike will be watching closely to see how he performs under pressure and if he can live up to the expectations surrounding his cricketing lineage.

Aryaveer Kohli’s Uncle is India’s Batting Stalwart:

Virat Kohli, the legendary Indian batter, has retired from T20Is and Test cricket, but fans are eagerly waiting for his return in ODIs. Recently, he underwent a fitness assessment, drawing significant attention given his iconic status in world cricket. The fitness test was closely watched, as it would determine his readiness for the upcoming international fixtures.

Kohli’s decision to take his fitness test in London, rather than at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru like the rest of the team, stirred debate among fans and cricket experts. Despite the controversy, it’s important to highlight that the superstar cleared the test with excellent results, showcasing his continued dedication and athleticism.

Sunil Chhetri Often Talks About His and Virat’s Close Friendship:

Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri revealed that Virat Kohli even shared his London fitness test scores with him. The two are close friends and, during the Covid-19 lockdown, inspired fans by sharing insights into their fitness routines, diet, and overall approach to sports, motivating many to stay active and disciplined.

He said, “ A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores for one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days, when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, 'let's go'. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable.”

He compared Virat Kohli to Cristiano Ronaldo, highlighting their status as elite athletes in cricket and football. While neither may be at their peak anymore, their fitness levels remain exceptional, often surpassing younger players in their twenties, showcasing their dedication, discipline, and commitment to maintaining top athletic standards even beyond their prime years.

Aryaveer Kohli: We are focusing on the final and the trophy, nothing bigger apart from that.

Reporter: Is there any opponent in the tournament that you need to be careful of?

Aryaveer Kohli: No, we haven’t thought of it yet.

Last year, South Delhi finished as the runners-up of the event, losing the final against East Delhi Riders. But this year, the aim is to go a step forward and win the title.
