The Pakistan spinner, Usman Tariq, has mocked the Australia all-rounder, Cameron Green, in a social media post after the latter appeared to accuse the spinner of chucking during the second T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The hosts sealed a crushing 90-run win after the visitors got rolled for 108 runs in 15.4 overs, with all ten wickets falling to spin.

During the 11th over of the run chase, Green miscued a wide delivery from Usman Tariq towards the point region, dismissed for 35 runs to leave the Australians in trouble at 6/76. Upon returning to the dugout, the right-handed batter mimicked a baseball throw, which seemed to be accusing the Pakistan spinner of chucking.

Tariq, on the next morning, appeared to poke fun at Green by uploading footage of a crying child to Instagram, captioning the post with ‘after getting out’ alongside a laughing emoji. Tariq’s bowling action is unorthodox. After pausing at the point of delivery, coming to a halt, he produces the off-breaks with a slinging action and pronounces a bend in his arm.

Under the regulation of the ICC, a bowling action is called illegal if a player’s elbow extends by more than 15 degrees during the delivery stride, which starts from the point where the bowling arm reaches horizontal until the ball is released. Any natural elbow hypertension is discounted when it’s being assessed for legality.

Tariq has twice been reported for a suspected illegal action while being part of the Quetta Gladiators during the 2024 and 2025 seasons of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). On the very first occasion, he was reported by the umpires, Asif Yaqoob, and later by Richard Illingworth, while last year, he was cited by the match officials, Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown.

“I do have two elbows in my arm. My arm bends naturally. I have got this tested and cleared. Everyone feels I bend my arms and all that. My bent arm is a biological issue.” Tariq expressed his opinion on his bowling action.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 198/5 (Salman Agha 76, Usman Khan 53, Adam Zampa 1/27) beat Australia 108 (Cameron Green 35, Abrar Ahmed 3/14) by 90 runs.

After Pakistan’s victory against the Australia during the opening T20I of the three-match series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the home side’s Prime Minister called the victory as an electrifying performance as he also appreciated the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, and the entire team for their efforts in the national side.

Now, after India’s massive first innings score of the fifth T20I of the five-match series against New Zealand at the Greenfield International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. “I took a break for an event with MS Dhoni, and the team scored 271/5 on that same evening. Zero civic sense. I asked Dhoni about the performance of the team, and he said, it’s such a dangerous side. This is called electrifying performance against a full-strength side. This is electrifying. If you know, you know.”

There are so many calls of the Pakistan off-spinner, Usman Tariq, chucking, and during the second T20I of the three-match series against Australia, the latter’s all-rounder, Cameron Green, complained of that after he got dismissed for 35 runs in 20 balls at a strike rate of 175, with the help of one boundary and a couple of sixes.

The Incident took place on the fifth delivery of the 11th over during the second innings when Tariq paused and went for a fullish delivery with a low release-action as Cameron Green shaped to go over the mid of our extra cover region and ended up slicing it in the air of the outer edge.

The ball only went sky high in the air before Sadaq Khan settled himself and grabbed a simple catch at backward point. While going back to the dressing room, the Australian batter copied the bowling action of Tariq to their dressing room, where he used his hand to show that the spinner was perhaps chucking the delivery, which is against the ICC’s rule book.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan posted a massive score of 198 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs as their captain, Salman Ali Agha, smashed a strong knock of 76 runs in 40 balls, with the help of eight boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 190.

Pakistan suffered a brief setback when former captain Babar Azam was dismissed for just 2 runs at number four. However, wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan stabilized the innings with a fluent 53 off 36 balls, maintaining a strike rate of nearly 150 with four fours and two sixes.

In reply, Australia vs Pakistan turned one-sided as the visitors were bowled out for 108 in 15.4 overs, crashing to a 90-run defeat. Cameron Green ended as Australia’s top scorer, while Pakistan’s bowling attack dominated the contest. Usman Tariq claimed 2 wickets for 16 runs, and Abrar Ahmed produced an impressive spell of 3/14, sealing a comprehensive win.

While walking back to the pavilion, Cameron Green was seen mimicking Usman Tariq’s bowling action towards the Australian dressing room, gesturing with his arm to suggest a possible illegal bowling action, an offence prohibited under the International Cricket Council laws.

Brief Scorecard:
Pakistan 198/5 (Salman Ali Agha 76, Usman Khan 53, Adam Zampa 1/27)

Babar Azam, who struggled for just 24 runs in 20 balls during the first T20I of the three-match series against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, continues to struggle with the bat with another poor performance during the second encounter at the same venue.

Babar arrived in the middle during the powerplay when the national side was 72/2, just a ball short of the sixth over of the first innings, after the home side, Salman Ali Agha, won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch which they reckoned would get slow in the second innings. Babar was two runs in four balls when he faced Adam Zampa.

The right-handed batter continues to get dominated by the leg-spinner. Zampa traps the batter plumb in front of the stumps as Babar looked to work the leg-break towards the square leg side, but he was beaten by the turn and was hit on the front pad as the umpire didn’t hesitate in raising the finger, with the delivery clearly hitting the middle stump.

It was the fifth time that the Australian spinner has dismissed Babar, who, in reply, has smashed only 78 runs at a run-a-ball during the same face-off at an average of 15.6 and a strike rate of 100 with the help of only three boundaries and just a couple of over boundaries.

Pakistan’s former captain hasn’t scored a single T20I fifty at home since 2025, which is a concern for the management ahead of the World Cup, where the batter needs to shoulder the responsibility in the middle order. Pakistan, apart from that, has got a massive contribution from their captain, Salman Ali Agha, with 76 runs in 40 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes.

Pakistan reached 125 runs for the loss of four wickets in 13 overs as Saim Ayub also played a decent yet small dashing knock of 23 runs in 11 balls, thanks to four boundaries at a strike rate of over 209.09.

Pakistan’sformer captain and the right-handed opening batter, Babar Azam, didn’t enjoy a great outing during the opening T20I of the five-match series between Pakistan and Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. He returned for 24 runs in 20 deliveries after being trapped leg before the stumps on the bowling of Adam Zampa.

A hilarious video has gone viral of his LBW decision when the Australian side asked for the third umpire review system. The leg spinner had his revenge after being hit for a six as he sent back the batter on 24 runs. It was googly on the back of a line around the off stump, which turned a little bit as Babar Azam switched his stance and tried to reverse sweep, but missed to get pinged on the pad.

In the video, it was seen that the ball had pitched outside the off-stump to the right-handed batter, to which the umpire claimed it as pitching outside leg, which saw the commentators starting to laugh hilariously as the video went viral on social media.

Pakistan's batting posted 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs as their opening batter, Saim Ayub, smashed 40 runs in just 22 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes, while their captain, Salman Ali Agha, nailed 39 runs in just 27 balls with the help of four sixes and one boundary.

However, Pakistan’s middle order failed to contribute as they kept on losing wickets throughout the last half of the first innings, which saw them putting a lower score than expected as Adam Zampa ended with four wickets in his four-over spell for 24 runs.

Australia did not get a huge contribution from their batting department, which saw them restricted to 146 for the loss of eight wickets in their 1120 overs as Cameron Green ended with a 36-run knock in 31 balls, while Xavier Bartlett provided an unbeaten 34 runs in 25 balls.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 168/8 (Saim Ayub 40, Salman Ali Agha 39, Adam Zampa 4/24) vs Australia 146/8 (Cameron Green 36, Abrar Ahmed 2/10) by 22 runs.

Pakistan’s former captain, Babar Azam, did not have a successful campaign for the Sydney Sixers in the 2025/26 season of the Big Bash League (BBL) as he returned two games before the end of the tournament for the franchise as the right handed batter prepared himself for the three match T20I series at home against Australia heading into the Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

Babar Azam continues to fail in the shortest format as he was dismissed leg before the stumps by Australia’s leg spinner, Adam Zampa, on 24 runs in 20 deliveries at a strike rate of 120 with the help of one boundary and one six. His first big shot was the boundary as he cleared his front leg and smashed Mahli Beardman over mid-off for a one-bounce four.

On the very first delivery of the 14th over, Babar uses his feet and goes close to the pitch of the delivery against Zampa, and smashed it over long-on. He did not get it off the meat of the bag, which increased the interest in the fielder’s mind, who, in putting a chance for the catch, before seeing the ball sailing over the fence.

Three balls later, Zampa had his revenge as he sent back the batter LBW on 24 runs. It was a googly on the back of a line around the off stump, which turned a little bit as Babar switched his stance and tried to reverse sweep, but missed to get pinged on the pad. The umpire did not raise his finger at the primary position before the standing captain, Travis Head, asked for the review.

After losing their opening batter on the very first ball of the game, Pakistan recovered well thanks to a classic knock of 40 runs in just 22 deliveries from Saim Ayub, while their captain, Salman Agha, also contributed 39 runs in 27 deliveries at a strike rate of nearly 145.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 168/8 (Saim Ayub 40, Adam Zampa 4/24) vs Australia.

<![CDATA[Australia vs Pakistan T20I series likely to face broadcast blackout in Australia]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/australia-vs-pakistan-t20i-series-likely-to-face-broadcast-blackout-in-australia/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/australia-vs-pakistan-t20i-series-likely-to-face-broadcast-blackout-in-australia/ Tue, 27 Jan 2026 13:22:08 GMT

The approaching T20I three-match battle between Australia and Pakistan has potentially gone non-broadcast in Australia. Just weeks ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, this creates an alarming situation, as no Australian broadcasters have yet expressed any interest in obtaining the rights to the series, primarily due to poor commercial viability and also due to minimal individual star appeal associated with either side.

As Australia and Pakistan will play the matches at 10:00 PM AEDT, there is also limited interest among broadcasters, as it is a very late time slot, as well as with many of Australia's highest-ranked players missing from the squad, creating a belief by networks that the series does not offer any of the leading names in Australian cricket that would attract viewership. Therefore, it is difficult to market within Australia because of the late scheduling and inexperienced squad members, who lack the required star power.

Nevertheless, regardless of broadcast uncertainty, both teams will utilize this series to prepare for the ICC World Cup. Pakistan enters the series with confidence from a successful T20I performance throughout 2025, while, for Australia, this series will be an opportunity to conduct assessments on bench strength and depth leading into the World Cup.

Selection choices influenced mostly by absentees and World Cup focus

In preparation for the World Cup, several of Australia's top players, including Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, will not be playing as part of Australia’s plan to manage player workloads. With key players having been injured recently, selectors are now placing greater importance on a player’s fitness for the long term and the forthcoming World Cup; thus, management cannot afford to risk these players’ availability in a bilateral series.

Conversely, the series for Pakistan will have increased significance with the return of senior players Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. After having missed the entire BBL 2025-26 season with a knee injury, Shaheen will look to find his rhythm prior to the tournament while also assisting the leadership group in determining the best combinations and filling their remaining holes prior to the tournament itself.
