While South Africa thrashed hosts Australia in the second T20I last Tuesday (August 12) to level the three-match T20I series and end the Aussies' new record nine-match T20I winning streak, the 30-year-old South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been penalised for a send-off after dismissing Australian cricketer Ben Dwarshuis.

Thanks to a century from the youngster Dewald Brevis, who recorded South Africa's highest T20I score 125 not out, South Africa recorded their highest T20I total against Australia, 218/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Australia were bowled out for 165 runs, and the Proteas won by 53 runs

Corbin Bosch breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct

During the 17th over of the chase, South African right-arm fast medium Corbin Bosch bowled the left-handed Australian lower-order batter Ben Dwarshuis, who scored 12 off 7 balls. After dismissing the Aussie batter, Bosch signaled the Aussie batter towards the dugout, which the match officials felt was a provoking gesture.

The ICC has found that the Proteas all-rounder Bosch breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” He has been sanctioned for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

The match referee Andy Pycroft penalised Bosch with one demerit point, which will stay on record for 24 months. As the player has accepted the proposed sanction, there is no requirement for a formal hearing.

Corbin Bosch recorded his best T20I bowling figures

Bosch was the best bowler in the complete Australia vs South Africa second T20I at Darwin. The 30-year-old right-arm fast medium bowler had the bowling figures of 3-0-20-3. Apart from dismissing Dwarshuis, which was his second wicket of the night, he also took the wickets of the Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh (22) and Adam Zampa (0), who was dismissed on the very next ball of Dwarshuis' wicket. It was Bosch's best bowling figures in his T20I career, who was playing his sixth T20I.

While South Africa thrashed the hosts Australia in the second T20I of the three-match series to level the series (1-1) and end the Aussies' nine-match T20I winning streak. During the second innings of the match, while Australia were chasing a big target, there was a bizarre incident, which made the South African players very shocked.

Dewald Brevis' stormy 125 not out off 56 balls guided Proteas to manage the first innings total of 218/7 in 20 overs. In reply, the hosts Australia were all out for 165 runs, and South Africa won by 53 runs. Due to losing wickets at regular intervals, Australia hardly managed to fight back in the chase.

Corbin Bosch stunned after Mitchell Owen's bizarre bowled-rescue

When Australia were struggling despite scoring close to 10 runs per over, that shocking incident stunned everyone. It was the second ball of the 13th over, when Corbin Bosch was bowling to Mitchell Owen. It was a full-length delivery angling into the off stump, which Owen tried to smash hard but completely missed, and the ball kissed the off-stump. As the ball hit the off-stump, the off-stump bail lit up, but the bail didn't fall, and Owen was very lucky to remain not out.

South African pacer Corbin Bosch and his colleagues were all in shock in that incident, as they couldn't believe that unlucky moment. Even the commentators had the same reactions as the Proteas camp. Proteas cricketer Rassie van der Dussen checked the stumps and gently hit the bail twice, while it only fell during the second time. It was the time when Owen was batting on 6 runs, who only added two more runs before getting out.

Visitors were strong enough during AUS vs SA 2nd T20I

Although it was a very unlucky moment for the Proteas, the visitors comfortably leveled the series, as the hosts couldn't put up any strong fightback in that big T20I chase. South Africa scored their record T20I total against Australia and also clinched their record T20I victory margin (by runs) against Australia.

On the other hand, Rassie van der Dussen, and his men performed clinically in the last game against Zimbabwe. They have a strong batting lineup and will look to leverage it and advance to the next round.

<![CDATA[Three South African players who won both WTC and 2014 U-19 World Cup]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/three-south-african-players-who-won-both-wtc-and-2014-u-19-world-cup/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/three-south-african-players-who-won-both-wtc-and-2014-u-19-world-cup/ Fri, 20 Jun 2025 18:08:09 GMT

Finally, South Africa managed to win an ICC trophy by beating Australia in the 2025 WTC final at lords, which wiped out their chokers tag. Chasing 282 was a tough ask, but Aiden Markram's 136 and captain Temba Bavuma's 66 made things look simple. Pacer Kagiso Rabada played his part, claiming 9 wickets in the entire match.

Aiden Markram was announced the player of the match. The right-hander was also a part of the under-19 World Cup team that won the trophy in 2014 in the UAE. In this piece, we highlight three South African players who were part of both the 2025 WTC final as well as the 2014 Under-19 World Cup final team:

1.Aiden Markram

Markram was the core of the South African batting lineup in the 2025 WTC final. The right-hander got out for a duck in the first innings but scored a stupendous 136 in the second innings, helping his team chase 282 in difficult playing conditions. Markram showcased a calm temperament and batted with assurance.

The 30-year-old was the captain of the under-19 team that won the 2014 under-19 World Cup in the UAE. In that tournament, he scored 370 runs with an average of 123.33 and a strike rate of 77.89, scoring 2 centuries and 1 half century. Markram scored 66 in the final of that tournament against Pakistan, where South Africa needed just 132 to win the final. In that tournament, Markram was named the man of the tournament.

2.Kagiso Rabada

Rabada played a crucial role in the 2025 WTC final as his performance laid the foundation for South Africa's win. The pacer took full advantage after South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl. The 30-year-old cracked open the Australian batting line-up in the first innings, claiming 5/51 and taking crucial wickets. In the second innings, he registered figures of 4/59.

Rabada was also a key figure during the 2104 under-19 World Cup in UAE when he claimed 10 wickets in the tournament with best figures of 6/25 against Australia in the semi-final, an economy rate of 3.10 and an average of 10.28. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in that tournament. In the final against Pakistan, his figures were 28/1 which were quite impressive as he didn't allow the Pakistani batters to score easily.

3. Corbin Bosch

Bosch is amongst the most exciting all rounders in South African set up at the moment. He was included in the 2025 WTC final playing XI. He made his test debut last year against Pakistan, where he claimed 4/63 in the first innings of the first test at Centurion and also scored an impressive unbeaten 81.

The 30-year-old all-rounder was the player of the match during the final of the 2014 Under-19 World Cup against Pakistan in the UAE when he registered figures of 4/15 and also claimed 9 wickets in that tournament with an average of 14.66 and an economy rate of 3.25.

The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have officially revealed their squad for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), building a formidable unit for the upcoming season. With a combination of international firepower and homegrown Caribbean flair, the Patriots are aiming for a strong comeback after a quiet run in recent editions. The squad announcement came following the official draft held on June 18, which also included the unveiling of retained and newly signed players.

The overseas players, including Rilee Rossouw (South Africa), Fazalhaq Farooqi and Waqar Salamkheil (Afghanistan), Corbin Bosch (South Africa), and Mohammad Nawaz (Pakistan), will provide quality and variations in the batting and bowling attack. The well-known local trades for Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze will bolster the already deep all-rounders.

The squad also has a strong core of Caribbean players with returning players Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Kyle Mayers, and Dominic Drakes for yet another season. The CPL's emerging player policy brings new additions in the form of Jyd Goolie, Navin Bidisee, and Leniko Boucher, who were also drafted to ensure there is plenty of youth added to the mix.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a legal notice to South African cricketer Corbin Bosch after he withdrew from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to play for the Mumbai Indians as an additional player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The schedules of the PSL and IPL are overlapping for the first time, causing unexpected conflicts regarding player availability.

Bosch's PSL Commitment and IPL Move

Bosch was picked up by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category of the PSL 2025 Players Draft, which took place in Lahore on January 13. But just a few days ago, he was named in the Mumbai Indians squad as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams.

Responding to this, the PCB sent a legal notice to Bosch by his agent, requesting him to clarify his PSL withdrawal. The board has also outlined what would happen in case of his contract breach and is awaiting a response within a fixed timeframe.

ALSO SEE: MS Dhoni Talks About His Most Controversial IPL Moment: That Was a Big Mistake

PSL and IPL Clash for the First Time

Ever since its inception in 2016, the PSL has been played during February-March. But because of Pakistan's international games and Champions Trophy 2025, the tournament was forced to be realigned in April-May, clashing with the IPL for the very first time.

Due to this shift in scheduling, many foreign players who remained unsold in the IPL auction signed up with PSL franchises later on. Bosch was among them, but his decision to quit the league at the last minute has now created a controversy.

What's Next?

Bosch's reaction to the legal notice will be pivotal in deciding the PCB's course of action. His case could also serve as a precedent for future conflicts between leagues, since both tournaments battle for the best international players.

The question that this situation brings to mind is this: Should players respect their PSL contracts, or should they be allowed to change leagues if a better option presents itself?

<![CDATA[Corbin Bosch Joins Mumbai Indians as Lizaad Williams' Replacement for IPL 2025🚨]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/corbin-bosch-joins-mumbai-indians-as-lizaad-williams-replacement-for-ipl-2025/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/corbin-bosch-joins-mumbai-indians-as-lizaad-williams-replacement-for-ipl-2025/ Sat, 08 Mar 2025 18:17:42 GMT

In a mid-season shake-up, the Mumbai Indians have signed in South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for another South African player, Lizaad Williams, ruled out of IPL 2025. MI confirmed his signing on its official channels, with the announcement only coming just before the start of the tournament.

He fetched a sum of precious price at the IPL 2025 auction and has not made it into the training camps because he suffered from an injury. MI did not speak about the specific conditions that would cause him to be absent, with his unavailability leading the side to look for an eventual replacement.

Corbin Bosch comes in to fill the void. He is a 29-year-old all-rounder who can bowl at a sharp seam and bat in the lower middle order. Recently, his performances in domestic and franchise cricket have made him a promising candidate for an IPL gig.

He has made a name for himself as one of the more reliable bowlers out there having played in the SA20 League and other T20 circuits, while he can also increase the scoring rate when needed. In the past, he had been part of the Rajasthan Royals setup as a net bowler so IPL is right up his alley.

Bosch's inclusion is, in fact, a much-needed addition that provides Mumbai Indians with substantial depth in their bowling attack, complemented by Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, and Jason Behrendorff. MI has a rich history of grooming overseas talent, so Bosch will be keen to make the utmost of this golden opportunity.

This time around, five-time IPL champions have taken a few strategic decisions regarding their squad, focusing on a balanced mix of youth and experience. After the exit of key players from last season, the team management was looking to find the fresh faces who would be able to come up to the occasion.

With Bosch being included, MI fans will be very eager to see how he fits into the team and whether he can make a significant impact in the biggest T20 league in the world.
