The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 will return for its 13th edition! Another excitement-filled season of thrilling T20 cricket is on the way! The tournament starts on 14 August 2025 and goes until 21 September 2025 in several Caribbean countries.

The CPL 2025 draft was held on 18 June, where teams completed their squads by retaining core players and adding new talent, including overseas stars and breakout Caribbean prospects. A key addition to the format this season is the mandate that each team must field at least one player from the West Indies Breakout League in every match. The tournament will kick off in St Kitts & Nevis, with the final set to be played in Guyana, giving local fans a grand stage finish.

This year, matches will be held at seven venues across six Caribbean countries. Trinidad and Tobago is the only nation hosting matches at two different stadiums. The confirmed CPL 2025 venues are Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (Antigua), Kensington Oval (Barbados), Providence Stadium (Guyana), Warner Park (St Kitts), Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (Saint Lucia), Brian Lara Cricket Academy, and Queen’s Park Oval (both in Trinidad).

The player draft for the 2025 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL)  was held on June 18, with all six franchises finalizing their squads ahead of the tournament’s much-anticipated return. The 2025 CPL is expected to be held between August 14th and September 21st and is expected to be six weeks of explosive T20 action across the Caribbean.

All six participating teams—Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings, and Trinbago Knight Riders—actively participated in the draft process. Several key trades had taken place ahead of the event, including a headline move that saw Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze join the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots from the Barbados Royals in exchange for Sherfane Rutherford.

A key change from this year’s draft was the inclusion of the West Indies Breakout League, a developmental initiative by Cricket West Indies. The final three rounds of the draft were intended for this league, as CPL teams must now start one of these players in every match in an attempt to solidify the region's development pathways.

The Saint Lucia Kings, the defending champions of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), have unveiled their retained core and newly signed players for the 2025 season, signaling their intent to defend the title with a balanced mix of international experience and Caribbean flair. The squad was officially announced during the CPL draft held on 18 June, and fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing how the Kings are looking with a new campaign.

Saint Lucia created history last season by securing their maiden-ever CPL title. They beat the Amazon Warriors by 6 wickets with 11 balls remaining in the final on 7 October 2024, chasing a total of 139 successfully. That moment not only marked a breakthrough win for the Kings but also completed the unique record of every CPL franchise having lifted the trophy at least once.

They've maintained a strong core of players from the earlier seasons, with perennial performers such as Roston Chase and Alzarri Joseph, with new additions of an assortment of foreign stars that are set to bring in quality and depth in all departments. With the season for CPL 2025 set to begin on 14 August and end with the grand finale in Guyana on 21 September, the Kings are looking to reach the ultimate stage once again.

The franchise has also embraced the CPL's developmental initiative, drafting emerging West Indies talent in the final rounds. These young guns will be integral to team dynamics since each team will be required to have at least one player from the Breakout League in every fixture—a step towards strengthening Caribbean cricket's grass roots.

The well-known local trades for Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze will bolster the already deep all-rounders.

The squad also has a strong core of Caribbean players with returning players Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Kyle Mayers, and Dominic Drakes for yet another season. The CPL's emerging player policy brings new additions in the form of Jyd Goolie, Navin Bidisee, and Leniko Boucher, who were also drafted to ensure there is plenty of youth added to the mix.
