Jadeja came in to bat during the powerplay after CSK lost two quick wickets in the opening overs. The hosts had a poor start, with Mohammed Shami dismissing Shaik Rasheed for a golden duck off the first ball, and Sam Curran was dismissed for just 9 runs by Harshal Patel. 

As Jadeja prepared to take the strike, the on-field umpire checked his bat and found it did not pass the gauge test. This led to Jadeja being asked to replace the bat before taking his turn. CSK virtually out of IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) achieved a convincing 5-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 45 of IPL 2025. CSK, batting first, only put 154 on the board in their home ground before being all out in 19.5 overs. Dewald Brevis led the way for CSK with a 42 off 25 balls, and Ayush Mhatre chipped in 30. Regular wickets and a lack of partnerships limited their scoring opportunities. It was Harshal Patel who did the damage for SRH with 4 wickets for 28 runs, and Pat Cummins was economical and took 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs.

SRH chased the target with authority, finishing on 155 in 18.4 overs with the loss of 5 wickets early on, with Khaleel Ahmed doing early damage with the wicket of Abhishek Sharma. A lucky start with the new bat

Jadeja then faced his first ball from Harshal Patel. It took the outside edge of the bat and went for four between the wicketkeeper and the short third fielder.  As per official rules, a bat’s length cannot be more than 38 inches, and its width and depth also have limits. The IPL’s gauge follows slightly larger limits to allow quick checks during the match. 

The moment brought some light drama to the game and showed how serious the league is about following equipment rules. Jadeja continued his innings with a legal bat and a smile. However, the CSK all-rounder could not convert the start he got as he was dismissed for 21 runs off 17 balls. Brevis played the last two IPL seasons with the Mumbai Indians, so CSK must be familiar with his explosive potential, as the young Indian had an overall strike rate of 133.72 in ten IPL matches and 230 runs. CSK's addition of Brevis is noteworthy, given that they were able to take advantage of their one replacement overseas player in this situation. 

Head Coach Stephen Fleming said Brevis could play against SRH. In fact, Fleming said Brevis could be playing against them. But he stated CSK will stay loyal to many players who have stuck it out for the duration of the season. "He's one of the options that we'll look at... Brevis is a good addition to the squad, but we just have to manage what we think will be the best team." As CSK desperately searches for a spark, Brevis may be able to provide the explosive impact that allows them to reinvigorate their season. 

Two teams on the brink stand with only one task left on hand. A win in each of their remaining game gives them a safe passage to the playoffs. Everything has to go right for something like that and so far, particularly for Chennai, everything has gone all wrong from the word go. CSK are off to their worst start in the IPL and their home efforts are even worse with one win in four games. Sunrisers are yet to win in Chennai, against CSK. Bengaluru though broke their Chepauk jinx, as did Delhi which is an indicator that this season could well be one for broken jinxes.

The match-ups though look promising for SRH. While CSK has good bowling, the bowlers have not really come to the party. They are firing in the wrong directions and that should be the kick start Surnisers need with their floundering batting line-up. A good start from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma is all that's needed to bring the season back to life and the feeble Chennai bowlers could just give them the spark. The battle though is termed as one between a side that has a poor bowling unit in SRH and a terrible batting outfit in Chennai Super Kings at the moment.
