Should I have taken that? Single is a question David Miller has been kicking himself over for a while now. Two to get off two balls, take a single and leave it to Kuldeep, worst case scenario is a super over. David Miller did not want that. He was in the groove. He was ruling the game, and he backed himself to get two off the Final ball.

The Lead-Up

In the 13th over of the game, a blow to the left hand had David Miller retire hurt when the game was hanging in the balance. A lot rested on KL Rahul, who batted like a man possessed. Timing the ball and clearing the fence with ease. Wickets, though, went around him with Rashid Khan spinning his own web on the Delhi batters. 12 off 10, David Miller walks off. 81 to get in 7 overs. He walks off and is followed in succession by Axar Patel and Tristin Stubbs, who lose their wickets. Pressure rising on Rahul as David Miller comes for a second chance.

Jos Buttler Finds His Range: Jos Buttler Goes On A Roll to Find Runs Again

Gujarat is the favorite, but Delhi is in with a chance as long as Rahul is around. David Miller, though, showed that he is not one to be counted out. If Rahul can clear the fence, David Miller can clear the stands. The South African who has witnessed heartbreak after heartbreak since 2013 for his nation had a team resting on his shoulders again. Pressure is nothing new to him, and succumbing to pressure, unfortunately, isn't as well.

The Final Over Showdown

He shows no respect, hitting his countrymen, Kagiso Rabada, over the fence to keep the rate manageable with 36 needed in two overs. From the dismissed Rahul, the responsibility shifted. A game long gone was kept alive. The 19th over though, changed the complexion with David Miller feeding into the bowling of Mohammad Siraj. He took him apart with 23 runs in the over leave 13 for the final over. Vipraj Nigam made the task easier with a boundary on the first ball. At 8 off 3, though, David Miller delivered what was to be the killing blow.

It was in the arc, and David Miller swung it out of the park in his own style. It was a face-off between him and Prasidh Krishna in the final over. The two had a face-off before as well, when David Miller, playing for Gujarat, took on Rajasthan in the qualifier 1 back in 2022. Facing Prasidh Krishna with 16 to get back then, David Miller hit three sixers to kill the game. A repeat looked likely, Prasidh Krishna, though, was having none of it as he was in for his own revenge story. Absolute cinema. A face-off with history, and David Miller did the unthinkable. Hitting the ball well to square leg, an easy single was on offer to tie the game with a ball to go. David Miller, though, backing himself to win off the final ball, refused the single.

A short ball, and David Miller was left swinging for air. He tried to sneak a bye, but Jos Buttler was a step ahead. A direct hit, and Kuldeep Yadav was left on the ground short of his mark. Gujarat won, and David Miller now stands thinking about what could have been yet again. Could he have backed himself in the super over, especially considering he won one a few months ago in the World Cup? A lot of what-ifs as Delhi goes back now to the drawing board, looking at what could have been and what isn't

<![CDATA[List of fastest T20I centuries among full member nations ft. Finn Allen]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/list-of-fastest-t20i-centuries-among-full-member-nations-ft-finn-allen/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-stats/list-of-fastest-t20i-centuries-among-full-member-nations-ft-finn-allen/ Thu, 05 Mar 2026 02:17:27 GMT

Finn Allen scored the fastest century in T20I history with a powerful hitting display at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Chasing 170 to reach the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Final, the Kiwi batter made a 33-ball century and led his team to an easy win. Allen broke the record of former India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Allen started hitting hard from the beginning in New Zealand’s chase. He hit a couple of early sixes off Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen, while Tim Seifert stayed on strike for most of the time. In the last over of the power play, Allen took control of the game.

Facing Corbin Bosch, Allen scored 22 runs with one six and four straight boundaries. This took New Zealand to 84/0 in the powerplay, almost winning the game. The Kiwi opener reached his half-century in just 19 balls. It was the joint fastest fifty of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Even after Tim Seifert got out, Allen did not slow down. He kept hitting boundaries easily. Almost every over had a four or a six. When Marco Jansen came back to bowl, Allen attacked him hard. He scored 24 runs in just 5 balls and reached his century in only 33 balls. New Zealand finished the chase in 12.5 overs.

Here is the complete list of fastest T20I centuries among full member nations

1. Finn Allen vs South Africa, 2026 (33 balls)

After the bowlers restricted South Africa to 169/8 in 20 overs on March 4, with pacers and spinners sharing eight wickets, it turned into the Finn Allen show. Finn Allen smashed the fastest T20I century between two Full Member nations, reaching his hundred in just 33 balls. He achieved this record in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final. Allen and Tim Seifert gave New Zealand a flying start. The pair powered the team to 84/0 in the six-over powerplay and almost ended the match there. After Seifert was dismissed for 58, Rachin Ravindra joined Allen at the crease. Allen went on to score his third T20I century in just 33 balls and finished the chase in style. New Zealand ended at 173/1 in 12.5 overs to seal a dominant win and book their place in the final.

2. Rohit Sharma vs Sri Lanka, 2017 (35 balls)

Former India captain Rohit Sharma scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in Indore on December 22, 2017. He reached his fifty in 23 balls. That was just the start. He scored the next fifty in only 12 balls. While fans were still celebrating his half-century, Rohit was already moving towards his hundred. That is how he plays — always one step ahead. At the other end, KL Rahul was playing his natural shots and keeping the innings steady. But Rohit was batting on another level. Short balls were pulled over midwicket. Length balls were lifted with ease over the same area. He did not just hit the ball hard; he placed it perfectly into gaps and over the boundary. Here is a key number — 91.52. That was the percentage of runs Rohit scored in boundaries. He made 108 of his 118 runs through fours and sixes.

3. David Miller vs Bangladesh, 2017 (35 Balls)

David Miller delivered a remarkable performance in T20I cricket when he scored one of the fastest centuries in the format. He reached his hundred in just 35 balls against Bangladesh in 2017. At that time, it was the fastest T20I century and he broke the previous record held by Richard Levi. Although Miller missed the chance to equal Yuvraj Singh’s record of six sixes in an over, his innings was still thrilling. This knock was special because he had struggled for form in the previous six months. Earlier that year, Miller had also played a strong innings of 117* against Sri Lanka, showing signs of returning to his best form.

4. Abhishek Sharma vs England, 2025 (37 balls)

The last time India and England played a bilateral match in Mumbai in 2025, Abhishek Sharma gave his best performance. He lit up the Wankhede Stadium with a stunning 135 off 54 balls. Now, ahead of a high-pressure T20 World Cup semi-final, the explosive opener will look to forget his self-doubts and deliver again when it matters most. The left-handed batter from Punjab reached his century in just 37 balls in the 11th over. It was the second-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian, after Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2017.

5. Tim David vs West Indies (37 balls)

Tim David smashed a powerful 37-ball century against the West Indies in 2025. His explosive knock helped Australia chase down 215 with 23 balls to spare in the third T20I. With this win, Australia secured the series 3-0 with two matches still left to play. It was a special night for the 29-year-old, who reached a personal milestone he was not sure he would achieve because of his lower batting position. David came in to bat when Australia were 61/3 in 5.5 overs. He changed the game with aggressive batting, hitting 11 sixes and six fours. During his innings, he also broke the record for the fastest T20I century by an Australian, going past Josh Inglis, who had scored a 43-ball hundred against Scotland the previous year.

South Africa will take on New Zealand in the 1st Semi-Final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Eden Gardens. South Africa had a very good tournament. They remain undefeated, winning all three of their group matches and then all their Super 8 matches to reach the semi-finals. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton have been in outstanding form with the bat, and Lungi Ngidi's bowling has been excellent. The African team defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in their last match. Chasing 154, they reached the target in 17.5 overs.

New Zealand, on the other hand, won one match and lost one in the Super 8, with one match abandoned due to rain. Both New Zealand and Pakistan have 3 points, but New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals due to a better run rate. New Zealand lost their previous match to England by four wickets.

South Africa produced a dominant display to beat India by 76 runs in their Super Eight encounter, piling up 187/7 before backing it with disciplined bowling in T20 World Cup 2026. Reduced to 20/3 early, they recovered through a fearless counterattacking stand that completely shifted momentum. The middle order blended composure with power, rotating strike smartly while punishing loose deliveries. Once the total surged beyond 180, the balance swung heavily in their favour as conditions offered enough assistance for controlled bowling, allowing them to defend the target with authority and confidence.

Tristan Stubbs' and David Millers' partnership was crucial in sparking South Africa's comeback and ultimately allowing for an outstanding performance in their T20 World Cup match against India. The two scored at will, and Stubbs added innovative shots while running well between the wickets to complement Millers' aggressive hitting. Combined, they dismantled India's plans by forcing changes to the fielding formation through hitting boundaries while mounting pressure on the Indian bowlers.Through their performance, South Africa confidently transformed a shaky start into a commanding position by the end of the innings. Both exemplified excellent counter-attack T20 batting and exhibited tremendous belief throughout their innings. From that point on, South Africa controlled the match.

As South Africa piled on runs, India fell apart during their innings due to a lack of stability created by early wickets and a significant number of dot balls. The Indian top order was unable to withstand the movement and bounce from the South African bowlers, which created no base for partnerships to build upon. Shivam Dube fought valiantly through the innings but fell victim to consecutive wickets falling around him as the innings progressed due to increasing required run rates leading to increasing risk being taken. The turning point of the match came during the middle overs by Marco Jansen's ability to take wickets while being backed up by Keshav Maharaj and Corbin Bosch. Their disciplined accuracy took away India's ability to hit boundaries and built continuous pressure on the Indian batters and proved to be an unmatchable target as South Africa won with authority.

The Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between India and South Africa was a crucial contest for both sides, who ended their group-stage with four successive wins. But there was a heated moment between two players, who weren’t part of the same Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

It was between David Miller and Washington Sundar. The incident happened during the 14th over of the first innings. As Sundar was about to release the ball from his hands, he saw Miller going forward to the other end and taking an advantage with the run, which he did not like, and stopped at the bowling end.

During the drinks, players had a heated exchange as the umpires tried bring calmness between the two players who were part of the Gujarat Titans as teammates in the past IPL days. Sundar was right in his role as the batter couldn’t take an advantage in running a few steps before the bowler bowls the delivery.

David Miller and Washington Sundar’s heated conversation in T20 WC 2026 goes viral

Miller was one of the biggest contributors for the Protea side in their batting lineup after they lost three wickets in four overs, including their captain, Aiden Markram. The left-handed batter smashed 63 runs in 35 deliveries at a strike rate of 180 with the help of seven boundaries and three sixes, as Tristan Stubbs played a fine knock of 44 runs in just 24 balls with the help of three sixes.

Watch the video here:

Sundar bowled only two overs during the first innings and gave away 17 runs without any wickets before adding elect in the chase. He was lucky to be part of the playing 11 as India decided to go with a tactical change of putting Akshar Patel on the bench despite his excellent skills with both bat and ball.

South Africa posted 187 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs before picking four wickets of the Indian side in eight overs, with only 43 runs on the board, which put massive pressure on the home side.

Brief Scores: SA 187/9 (David Miller 63, Dewald Brevis 45, Jasprit Bumrah 3/15) vs India 51/5 (Abhishek Sharma 15, Corbin Bosch 2/5)

During the T20 World Cup 2024 final against India at the Kensington Oval, it was David Miller who stood before the Rohit Sharma-led side like a rock. Once he was dismissed, India claimed the trophy, which meant Miller had some unfinished business against the defending champions, and the Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, was a good position to take the revenge.

South Africa did not make a great start in the game, losing three wickets, including their captain, in just four hours before David Miller walked into the middle at number 5 and looked in a different mood from the very first ball as he smashed all the bowlers around the park.

Miller went after Varun Chakravarthy from the very first over as he cleared his front leg and put him into the long-on fence for a 95-meter six. That was a poor evening and bowling from the leg spinner, who had been in great form throughout the last 12 months of the game.

Varun Chakravarthy sends back David Miller in T20 WC 2026 Super 8 clash

Miller was finally dismissed in Varun’s very last over of the spell. On the fourth delivery, Miller was hauled out at long-off. The leg spinner slowed down the pace and drifted one wider of the off stump, which made the left-hander better reach out on the lofted drive, and he did not get hold of the shot and ended up finding the fielder.

Watch the video here:

Miller was dismissed on 63 runs in 35 balls with the help of seven boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 180 as he also became South Africa’s third-leading run-getter in the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with the help of 569 runs, by overtaking JP Duminy in the list.

Miller also put up a fine partnership of 97 runs for the fourth wicket with Dewald Brevis, who ended up with 45 runs in 29 balls, 155 with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes.

Brief Scores: SA 187/9 (David Miller 63, Dewald Brevis 45, Jasprit Bumrah 3/15) vs India.

Agony, bizarre twists, crunch passages, and tense finishes have defined Group D so far, and another gripping contest awaits as South Africa take on New Zealand in Match 24 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The clash will be held at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, February 14. Historically, New Zealand have enjoyed the upper hand, winning four of the last five T20Is between the sides. That record adds an extra layer of intrigue to an already high-stakes encounter.

New Zealand arrive in excellent form, having comfortably defeated Afghanistan before completing a dominant chase against the United Arab Emirates. Another victory would secure their progression to the Super Eights with a game still remaining. South Africa, meanwhile, are coming off a dramatic double super-over win against Afghanistan at the same venue. While they will be eager to collect crucial points, the Proteas would prefer a more controlled performance this time rather than another nerve-racking finish.

<![CDATA[David Miller cleared for 2026 T20 World Cup after injury setback]]> https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/david-miller-cleared-for-2026-t20-world-cup-after-injury-setback/ https://www.cricketwinner.com/cricket-news/david-miller-cleared-for-2026-t20-world-cup-after-injury-setback/ Sat, 31 Jan 2026 19:13:48 GMT

The South African middle-order batter, David Miller has received the go-ahead from doctors to compete in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, removing possible concern surrounding an injury Miller suffered earlier this month. This news comes as a significant asset to the South African team (the Proteas) who are working through their squad selection prior to the T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka. Miller's successful medical clearance will allow him to play a key role in South Africa's batting line-up, one of the most dangerous and reliable middle-order hitters in the world, as the Proteas prepare for meaningful global cricket competition.

Earlier this month, Miller suffered a groin injury during the SA20 and was forced to return to South Africa after the injury and could not play in the T20I series against the West Indies as a result. Following the injury, Miller underwent extensive assessments and treatment and has now received a full medical clearance from Cricket South Africa. Miller's doctor's statement that he has completed all required medical evaluation means that he can now enter the final stages of preparation for the World Cup.

A left-handed player significantly impacts South Africa's game strategy when playing a T20 match. Miller is famous for having the ability to score quickly in the middle of each inning and to finish the last innings well. He will bring valuable experience and help Win the South African team matches. Miller will be 36; the South African team will have him bat 5th and finish the game. This addition to the South African team also provides batting depth with bowling and fielding power. As they enter the T20 World Cup, the South African team will have a good shot of winning big.

Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton named as injury replacement for T20 World Cup 2026

South Africa’s squad for the upcoming multi-nation tournament has been hit by injury setbacks, with Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira, both initially named in the final team, unable to recover in time. To fill the gaps, the Proteas have called in the experienced duo of Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton as replacements. This adjustment ensures that South Africa maintains a strong batting lineup and all-round balance despite the unexpected absences, giving captain Aiden Markram multiple options as he plans strategies for the group stage.

The Proteas are set to begin their campaign against Canada on February 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With a combination of experienced players like Miller and the newly added Stubbs and Rickelton, South Africa will look to hit the ground running. The team management will aim to integrate the replacements smoothly while preserving team balance and momentum. With key players fit and ready, the Proteas will hope for a strong start to their tournament journey.

The excitement for the T20 World Cup 2026 is already growing. All 20 teams are getting ready to fight for the title. The tournament will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and will begin on February 7. Fans can expect fast-paced matches and big moments.

Many young players are likely to play their first T20 World Cup and make a name for themselves. At the same time, this tournament could be the last World Cup for some senior players. Because of age or current form, a few experienced stars may not return for another edition.

Below are five players who could be playing their final T20 World Cup.

1. Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan)

Mohammad Nabi has been one of the most important players in Afghanistan’s cricket journey. From the early days to the world stage, he has helped the team grow with both bat and ball. Now 41 years old, the experienced all-rounder is close to the end of his career. With the next T20 World Cup after 2026 set for 2028, it is unlikely he will play again at the age of 43.

In T20 internationals, Nabi has scored 2,430 runs and taken 104 wickets. He has also led Afghanistan in three T20 World Cups. His calm leadership and fighting spirit helped Afghanistan earn respect in world cricket.

2. Glenn Maxwell (Australia)

Glenn Maxwell is one of the most exciting batters in modern cricket. He is known for his fast scoring and creative shots. Maxwell can change a match in just a few overs.

His attacking style sometimes brings mixed results, but it has also produced many special moments. One of his best knocks was a T20I century against India in 2019. Maxwell has scored over 2,800 T20I runs and has also contributed with the ball.

3. Adil Rashid (England)

Adil Rashid has been a key player in England’s white-ball success. When England needed a strong leg-spinner, Rashid stepped up and became a regular wicket-taker.

He is England’s highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals, with more than 140 wickets. Rashid has been effective in the middle overs and keeps his runs under control. With age catching up, the 2026 T20 World Cup could be his last.

4. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan)

Fakhar Zaman has been an important part of Pakistan’s batting over the years. The left-handed opener is known for his power and fearless approach at the top of the order.

In T20 internationals, Fakhar has scored more than 2,300 runs. As Pakistan looks at younger players and Fakhar moves into his late 30s, this World Cup may be his final chance to perform on the big stage.

5. David Miller (South Africa)

David Miller is known for his strong finishing skills and big hitting. He has won many matches for South Africa with his aggressive batting.

Miller has scored over 2,600 runs in T20 internationals, including two centuries. With age and form becoming important factors, the 2026 T20 World Cup could be his last appearance in international T20 cricket.
