Former India international Ravichandran Ashwin shared a shocking incident related to a scam. Ashwin, through his YouTube channel, revealed that he received a WhatsApp message from a fake 'Devon Conway.' The scammer who messaged Ashwin claimed to be his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Devon Conway.

After a few formal words, the person asked went straight into the business, asking Ashwin to share Virat Kohli's contact number. Then, he asked for the numbers of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. By then, Ashwin started to see red flags and went into CSK's group to check Conway's actual WhatsApp number. Ashwin took only a few minutes to realize that on the other side of the phone, it was a scammer who tried to collect some high-profile contacts. The incident happened after IPL 2025.

"After the IPL got over, one guy messaged me, claiming to be Devon Conway, 'Hi buddy, how are you?' and I also responded, ‘We'll stay in touch. You're playing in MLC; I'll watch the games.' He then asked, 'I've lost Virat Kohli's number; can you share it?' I thought, why is he asking for Virat's number? I thought I should ask him, but I didn't want Devon Conway to misunderstand. Then I picked Virat Kohli's card and gave him a different number," Ashwin said.

"Once I shared it, he replied, 'I've lost a few more numbers.' I asked whose numbers, and he responded, 'Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.' I got suspicious and thought somebody was playing a prank."

Ashwin used his grey matter

Now, Ashwin played his card. He asked a tricky question to the scammer. 'I gave you a bat this year; how's that bat?' Ashwin asked. The scammer did not realize it was a trap and fell for it. Now, the former India cricketer had a clear picture in front of him, a pure case of scam.

I then asked him a question, 'I gave you a bat this year; how's that bat?' He said the bat is amazing, but I hadn't even given him any. He lied, and I blocked him instantly. The guy took a chance. I went back to the CSK group and checked Devon Conway's number, and it was not the same. At least I had the smarts to send the duplicate card of Virat. It was his WhatsApp number in Australia. Thank goodness, because he was asking for everybody's numbers,” Ashwin added.

On the second day of the second and final Test match against the hosts Zimbabwe, New Zealand achieved the rarest feat in Test cricket during the run-galore day on the field.

After Zimbabwe were bundled out for just 125 runs on Brendan Taylor's international cricket return, Zimbabwe bowlers had a tough day on the second day of the Test match, where New Zealand ended the day on 601/3. Blackcaps batters added 427 runs on the second day, while three of their batters not only scored centuries but also slammed 150s.

Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra followed Devon Conway's 150 mark

Openers Devon Conway and Will Young had a 162-run partnership for the first wicket. Young scored 74 runs, and Conway continued his batting till 153 off 245 balls (18 fours) when he was bowled by Blessing Muzarabani. While the no.3 batter Jacob Duffy scored 36 runs, the next two batters completed 150s and remained not out at the stumps on the day. Henry Nicholls scored 150 not out off 245 balls (15 fours), and Rachin Ravindra scored 165 not out off just 139 balls (21 fours and 2 sixes). They have already set up a 256-run partnership for the unbroken fourth wicket.

It was the only third time in Test cricket history when more than two batters recorded 150 or more runs in the same Test innings. In fact, it is the joint record, as previously, three batters hit 150 in the same Test innings only twice, once each by England and India. New Zealand rewrote the rarest record after more than 38 years.

While it was recorded first time in Test cricket during the 1938 The Oval Test against Australia, three English batters with 150s were Leonard Hutton (364), Maurice Leyland (187), and Joe Hardstaff (169 not out).

It was recorded second time during the 1986 Kanpur Test against Sri Lanka, when Indian batters Sunil Gavaskar (176), Mohammad Azharuddin (199), and Kapil Dev (163) set the achievement.

Devon Conway put an end to a two-year drought of a Test hundred as New Zealand tightened their hold over Zimbabwe on Day 2 of the second Test. The left-hand batsman produced a smooth and undefeated 140 by lunchtime, leading New Zealand past 300 and to a total of 306/2 with an overall lead of 181.

When the morning session play resumed, New Zealand was 174/1, leading by 49. The hosts only added nightwatchman Jacob Duffy's wicket to their second-day laundry list as they added 132 runs in the morning session. After starting the day on 78, Conway hit a brisk fifth Test century from just 143 balls, driving Luckie Muzarabani through mid-off for his 13th four. He lifted a clenched fist in the air in celebration. His reaction was equally one of relief that he’d finally reached three figures in a Test match after 16 Tests without a century earlier.

Duffy also performed a rare appearance with the bat, putting a level of frustration over Zimbabwe with a plucky 36 in a 73-run partnership with Conway before Masekesa broke the stand. A debuting Bennett pulled off a sharp catch at short mid-wicket for Duffy, which paved the way for Henry Nicholls to join Conway and start their innings as the highest on the board. Nicholls was 41 not out at lunch break as the fatigue of the New Zealanders' opponents was starting to show; they struggled with their last touch of resiliency.

Conway’s Century and Pace Attack Put New Zealand in Complete Control

The groundwork was laid on Day 1 when New Zealand’s new-look pace battery stripped Zimbabwe for just 125 inside two sessions. Matt Henry spearheaded the attack with 5/40, and debutant Zakary Foulkes with 4/38, unsettled the hosts with height and accuracy. Jacob Duffy and Matthew Fisher chipped in, whilst Fisher took the final wicket, a bowled ball from Tanaka Chivanga.

Brendan Taylor provided the only resistance for Zimbabwe in his first Test match in over 3.5 years since his ICC ban. His stoic 44 off 107 balls was in doubt as Zimbabwe lost three wickets in eight balls after lunch, and he looked like the only player who could halt New Zealand’s relentless pace attack. The conceding of Sikandar Raza at leg slip alongside the golden duck of Trevor Gwandu spoke volumes about how competitive the hosts were.

In reply, New Zealand began commanding their reply through a 162-run opening partnership featuring Will Young (74) and Conway. The Zimbabwe fast bowlers struggled to bowl quickly and also didn't cause any issues with pace (which is notably controversial), and they struggled to create swings or exert pressure with their bowling. Their fielding also didn't help their plight. With Conway well and truly in and with a lengthy batting line-up behind him, New Zealand seem to be focused on batting Zimbabwe out of the match, completing a 2-0 series whitewash, in another inconsequential Test in the World Test Championship.

New Zealand put up a strong total of 180 runs in the final of the T20I Tri-series in Harare, with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra playing key innings. Even though South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi bowled very well and bowled tightly, the Kiwis still found a way to score big.

Conway and Rachin Lead the Way as New Zealand Score 180 Despite Ngidi’s Tight Bowling

After being asked to bat first, New Zealand got a great start. Tim Seifert and Devon Conway looked in good touch and added 75 runs for the first wicket. Seifert scored 30 before getting out, but Conway continued to bat nicely and made 47 runs before he was dismissed.

Rachin Ravindra joined Conway and played a stylish knock. He also scored 47, hitting two sixes and four boundaries. Even though South Africa tried to pull things back with Ngidi’s smart bowling, New Zealand’s lower order added useful runs towards the end.

Thanks to Conway and Rachin’s solid efforts, along with a few handy hits down the order, New Zealand finished their 20 overs with 180 on the board. Ngidi was the best bowler for South Africa, giving away very few runs and keeping the batters under pressure.

Just a week after being left out of the T20I side, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter, Devon Conway, returns for the tri-series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. He came in as a replacement for injured Finn Allen, who picked up a foot injury while playing in the MLC 2025 for the San Francisco Unicorns. Conway’s only experience in the shortest format has been in various franchise circuits.

The other additions on the side are the batters, Mitchell Hay and Tim Robinson, and all-rounder, James Neesham, as the trio joins the squad for the cover of Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Philips, and Rachin Ravindra, who will be busy in the MLC final on July 13. New Zealand will be under veteran Mitchell Santner, as the new era under coach Rob Walter begins.

We're gutted for Finn. I was looking forward to working with him and to seeing him continue his form from the MLC, but unfortunately, injuries happen. We're lucky to be able to call on someone of Devon's quality to replace Finn. The Blackcaps coach said as he starts his stint with Luke Ronchi, Jacob Oram, and James Foster in the support staff. Several key players, including Kane Williamson, have made themselves unavailable for the trip.

CSK star Devon Conway returns for New Zealand in the tri-series against Zimbabwe and South Africa

Williamson is currently in London as he is featuring in the T20 Blast, besides being part of the county side for Middlesex. Their fast bowler, Lokier Ferguson, has been rested to keep an eye on his workload management, while Kyle Jamieson has opted out of the tour as he waits for the birth of his child. Ben Sears, on the other hand, is out with a side strain.

New Zealand will start their campaign against South Africa on Wednesday as each side will play each other in a double-round-robin format. The top two teams, then, will play the final on July 26, as all of the fixtures will take place at the Harare Sports Club.
